Canton. Feb. 7-14-21 Love God and love your neighbor lie lett no placp for self. There is nothing in the Bible about put ting, self in the center. In fact, it teaches the opposite. When we open our hearts to God, then our hearts receive His power. But that power helps us but little, if it is not permitted to pass through us to others. It is like electricity. It does not work unless the circuit is complete. We complete spiritual circuit when we receive God's pow er, let it pass through us into the lives of those about us, our neigh bors. Here is the secret of happy, suc cessful, joyous living. It is one of the best prescriptions for good health. It is so simple that many won't take it. If you are tangled up with self, why don't you give God a chance with your life? When He comes into a man's life, self must move out of the center. The desire to be useful to others follows. The result: true happiness. Why not try it? FOR SALE 4 good milk cows. Will sell reasonable. If inter ested see or write T. C. Bryson, Jr., Sylva, N. C. Suppose you were a red-headed sailor on leave in Now Orleans and you'd had a most innocent chat with an attractive lady named Leah, and then had gone innocent ly on your way. You had no idea that for twenty-four hectic hours Leah had done everything in her power (and in New Orleans to find you again. You had gone about your business in your happy, care free way but Leah had not the slightest inkling of what a red headed sailor on leave would do, you see. Anyway she bumps into more odd and ends during thai trantic hunt ... but she lands her man . . . breathlessly. "THOSE OTHER PEOPLE" was written by Mary King O'Donnell and is the February selection of the Literary Guild. 'Nuf said. , You who read "ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT," and saw the famous movie of same, need no inducement to read Erich Maria Remarque's newest novel . . . his first in five years incidentally . . . "ARCH OF TRIUMPH." In this book Remarque has put all tho ar tistry of. his ability in fashioning this captivating story of war-torn countries with which he is so fa miliar. There is no "dousing of colors" in this book and at times, it is so realistically strong in its wordago that the reader holds his breath in suspension. But there is no laying the book down, we can assure you of that; it holds you in a grip of intensity and drama. And when, you come to that line in the next-' to-the-last paragraph where Ravic says, "Human beings can stand a great deal," you feel like echoing his words. Just as the tiny green leaves point the way to Spring, so do tho waiting lists of new books point the way to good reading, and the long summer days ahead will find many hooks in the hands of those looking for the best entertainment for trips, wido porches, and cushioned cliairs. Feeder Hotels Before the war leas than 5 per cent of the nation's hotel business was handled by tourist camps. These, small establishments are ex pected to provide much greater competition in postwar years, and some hotel operators, principally in the West and Southwest, have al ready bcRun to prepare by buying "outpost inns" to use as "feeders" tor their main establishments.
