SYMPATHY EXCEPTED Sympathy went unrecognized in an Atlanta court recently where a judge failed to see the motive. Arranged on a charge of drunk enness, an Atlanta man explained to the judge that a granddaughter had been suffering from hives, for which a physician had proscribed doses of lemon juice and whiskey. The defendant said he had sym pathized with the girl's plight and taken some of her medicine. Police complained that this practice had led to noisy demonstrations to which neighbors had objected. The sympathizer paid a $12 line.
