THURSDAY, MARCR1 CAGE TVO (First Section) THE WAYNESVILLE MOUNTAINEER i ABC 'Changes Name At Meet Tuesday Night At the regular meeting of ' the American Business Club on Tues day night it was decided to change the name from the Waynesville Hazelwood chapter to the Wayne Wood Chapter. The meeting was held at the Jones Tea Room, with Clyde Fisher, president, presiding. Invocation was given by Lawson Summer-row. A history Of' the ABC was given during the evening and a resume of the activities of the local chap ter, youngest local civic group, winch was organized in November, 1945. with six charter members. Jt was announced that the member ship now stands at fifteen. Atten tion was called to the meaning of the motto, "Shoulder together," which suggests comradeship and cooperation. Two new members were taken into the chapter Tuesday night, Eddie Fenstemacher, and Charlie Ballentine. The present roll of members in cludes: Lawson Summerrow, Bud Blalock. Earl Scruggs, Harry Lee Liner, Kyle Campbell, Rufus Cad dis, George Bischoff, R. L. Hen dricks. Rev. Paul Townsend, Charl es Ballentine, Eddie Fenstemacher, Joe Shipley and Wallace Marley. Guests of the evening were Henry Tuttle and Hufus Carswell. Funke has returned from a visit to two of her nephews who reside in Little Rock, Ark. She is now located in her new home on South Main street, in which she maintains her ollices. Rufus Carswell Is Temporary Post Adjutant In spite of the inclement weather conditions of last Friday evening, 81 members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars were present" for the meeting which was held at the Waynesville Armory. Fifty-one new members were taken into the or ganization. Rufus Carswell was elected tem porary adjutant of the post. A greater part of the business session was taken up with a dis cussion of a suitable name for post. It was finally agreed to call the organization "The Haywood Memo rial Post," honoring all the boys who lost their lives from the coun ty in World War II. Another meeting of the group is scheduled to be held this com ing Friday night at 7:30. All veterans of World War I and II, who served overseas are invited to attend. R. V.
