Foreign Wars To Meet Friday Night The Veterans of Foreign Wars held their regular monthly meeting on Friday night at the Wayncsville Armory. Special guests of the evening were Commander Jack Woody and l.t. Smathers of the Canton post. It was decided to continue hold ing the meetings in the Wayncs ville Armory until funds could be raised to linance a building lor use by the organization. During the meeting Maj. tieorge Plott addressed the group. An nouncement was made of the meet ing to be held Friday evening at which time veterans of both World War 1 and II are urged to he pres ent. Mr. I'less has been an active member of the Bethel Methodist church and of the Masonic Lodge of the community. He was a well known sportsman, having been one of the leading hear hunters in the county. Surviving are his widow. Mrs. F.lla I'. I'less; four sons. Nelson. Luther, Hex and Dewey Pless; three daughters, Mrs. Nettie Kuy kcndall, Mrs. Clyde Clark, of Hay wood county, and Mrs. Nellie Os borne, of Ashcville. For .stepchildren, all of the Hay wood area are Bolnev Presslev, Mrs. Dosha Burress, Mrs. Clyde Crawford, and Mrs. Audrev llow- and a sister. Route who died in an Ashcville hospital at 12;45 a. in. on Wednesday, fol lowing a lengthy illness. Rev. Ray Allen officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Huffman was a native of Haywood county and has resided near Ashcville for the past ten years. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. B. T.
