( t Dr. Frank Pate New Champion Co. Physician Dr J. Frank Pate, who served as assistant to Dr. F. M. Davis, plant physician for the Canton Division of The Champion Paper and Fibre Company for more than three years, was officially appointed plant physician on March 4, to succeed Dr. Davis, who resigned a few weeks ago. The Log of Champion activities carried the following story in a recent issue: Dr. Pate, a native of South Caro lina, was educated at the Univer sity and Medical College of that state and served his internship at the Georgia Baptist Hospital, At lanta. He is a member of the Haywood County Medical Society, member of the North Carolina Medical So ciety and American Medical Asso ciation. Dr. Pate served as medical examiner for the Haywood County Selective Service Board Number 2 for five years. He is also chairman of the Canton Board of Health. Dr. Pate has practiced medicine in Canton since 1931 and has many friends in Canton and throughout the county. Therefore, we feel sure he will have the full cooperation of Champion employees in his work as plant physician. He will be at his office in our emergency hospital (First Aid from 8:00 a. m. to 10:30 a. m. each day, except Sunday, and on emer gency call at any time when needed. Pvt. Bob Rogers Has Arrived In Naples Private Bob Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Rogers, of Clyde, Route 1, has arrived safely in Naples and has been assigned to the Btry B, 15th Oban, Bn., a unit of the Peninsular Base section, the army service force in Italy. After arrival in Naples Fort, Pvt. Rogers was transported to the 7th Replacement Depot for processing according to army skill and civilian specialty. At the depot he was provided with bed and mattress, adequate blankets and post ex change supplies in buildings of the college area in Pagnoli. Within 36 hours he boarded coach trains to Leghorn. Enroute he stopped at Rome. The Peninsular Base section has a record of uninterrupted service in this theater extending over three years. It has played a major part in the mounting of the Southern France invasion. Pvt. Rogers entared the army on June 8, 1945, and took his train ing at Camp Wheeler, Ga., prior to being sent overseas. The Fulton County Health De partment condemned wells at be tween 75 and 100 suburban homes. Scarcity of labor and materials prevented piping city water to the premises. The West End Heights Woman's Club, with members at many of the homes, arose to the occasion. It obtained a county license and approval of the Office of Price Ad ministration and set itself up to supply water to those without it.
