F. Phibbs of Fast Flat Rock, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kirkpatrick and Mrs. M. M. Noland of Waynesville. Rev. Phibbs is a veteran of World War II, hav ing served as chaplain with the 93rd Medical Gas Treat Bn. in the European theater. Mrs. Phibbs served with the Mason General Hospital on Long Island, N. Y., and Mr. Kirkpatrick, nephew of Mrs. Ferguson, served with General Pat ton in the 6th Armored Division. Joint Hostesses Give Shower For Mrs. Wm. Byrnes Mrs. Herbert Braren and Miss Mary Medford were joint hostesses on Thursday evening at the home of the former on Pigeon street of a miscellaneous shower in compli ment to Mrs. William Byrnes, the former Miss Martha Mae Wyche, daughter of Mrs. Troy Wy che, w ho is spending several days here with her mother and sister. The residence was arranged in quantities of spring flowers in ni'xi'd arrangements. During the evening Mrs. Stanley Blading showed colored movies of the cake cutting held following the marriage of the honor guest. Mrs. Byrnes was the recipient of many lovely gifts including crystal, china, linen and silver. The guest list included Mrs. Byrnes, her mother, Mrs. Wyche, and sister, Miss Jane Wyche, Mrs. George Patterson, Mrs. Hugh Pal mer, of Raleigh and Waynesville, Miss Louise Martin, Miss Anne Fdmonds, Miss Dorothy Richeson, Mrs. Paul McElroy, Mrs. Kathleen Smith, Mrs. Fred Phillips, of Ra leigh and Burlington, Miss Rose mary Herman, Miss Rulhie Wagen feld, Miss Betty Bradley, Miss Lois Massic and Miss Patsy Gwyn. Maryland Gill Is Married To George R. Parton Mr. and Mrs. William Tudor, of Glencoe avenue, Cantonsville, Md.. have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Dorothy Tudor, to George R. Parton, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Parton, of Waynesville, which took place in Elkton, Md., on Sunday, May 19th. The bride is a graduate of the Cantonsville high school of Can tonsville, Md. Mr. Parton, veteran of World War II, was a student at the Fines Creek high school at the time he entered the service. While sta tioned in San Diego, Calif., serving with the Marine Air Force he com pleted his high school work. He served for twenty months on over seas duty and was in combat on a number of islands in the Pacific theater. The couple will make their home in Cantonsville, Md. Mrs. Hugh Jolly Will Be DAR Hostess For June Meet The June meeting which is the last of the current year, of the Dorcas Bell Love Chapter, Daugh ters of the American Revolution, will be held with Mrs. Hugh Jolly at the home of Mrs. Jimmy Boyd on Friday, June 14, at 3:30 o'clock. Miss Lois Harold will have charge of the program which will feature Flag Day. A report of the Nation! Congress recently held in Atlantic City will be given by Mrs. R. N.
