Conn, who took a knock-out from Louis in thechampion's last major title light after having out-pointed Louis in most of the first thirteen rounds, is full of determination to wrest the heavyweight crown from the colored boy from Detroit. Louis, as usual, is ready and will ing to take on the Pittsburgh mit man, and both feel that the war years have not taken too much away from their fighting abilities. Local fight fans will follow the match by radio, although New Yorkers and visiting spectators are paying $100 for ring-side tickets. Mike Jacobs, promoter of the match, is expecting the largest crowd in lighting history to at tend. A side-light of the fight picture occurred early this week when Jack Johnson, first negro heavy weight champion, was killed in an automobile accident near Haleigh while on his way from Texas to New York. Heroine Remains At Switchboard Aiding Others CHICAGO- A nervous lad of 10 blinked his eyes lo hold back tears as he moved slowly behind the coffin of his mother, a heroine. The to din bearing Mrs. Julia Berry, who died in the La Salle llolel fire, was carried into St. Brendan's Human Catholic Church, filled with those who had come as friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers and strangers. They had come to pay final tribute to the woman who remained at her switchboard during the fire and gave her life that others might live. The boy. Jack, knelt in a pew, a handkerchief clutched tightly in one hand, as the Hev. Edward Morgan spoke at the solemn requiem mass. Father Morgan said: "Here was a woinna who knew her duty and elected to do even more. It always is easy for us to lind excuses not to do our duty. She neither looked for nor found such excuses." Fishing Streams Full, But Anglers Still In Bad Luck FISHERMAN'S LUCK GARIBALDI, Ore Greenbacks came floating down "from no where'' onto fishing boats moored here. No one knows where the money came from, but a short time before, a plane had passed over head. Tom Hess, a commercial fisher man, said he was eating lunch on deck when the heaven-sent bills dropped before him. He threw away his sandwich and grabbed $16. No matter who does it even if the highest bidder gets the whole mess let's prevent economic dis aster by selling military surpluses while things are scarce. Wanted! Big Creek and Cataloocliee are so full of trout they need a traf fic director, reports the county game warden. Rufus RatclilTe. Still some of the best sportsmen of this section offered their complete line of bait without getting a nibble. The main reason for this, in Mr. Rateilffe's opinion, is that stick bait is hatching, and as the insects tome out of their stick homes to stretch themselves before flying away, the trout rise to the surface and feed. With mother nature still offering a free lunch counter, artificial lure fails to tempt the well-fed fish. Although the farmers need rain badly, if the dry spell continues for another week the warden pre dicts that streams will dry up and quit floating in the insects. When this happens, the trout will be come so hungry that fishermen no trouble in bagging In other words, prospects are again slim fur this week-end, but with continued dry weather, the following week should be the one in which to plan your fishing trip.
