Cow's Production Is Dependent Upon Owner's Treatment High milk production records are possible only when there is a real partnership existing between the tanner and his dairy herd. These records are a joint result of the cow's own ability to produce and the feed anil conditions she is subjected to. First we must begin wnh a good cow: One which has "lie ability to produce enough milk and bnl terfat to more than pav for the feed she consumes. Select the cow that is free from disease: at least average size for her breed; has well-sprung fore ribs and a large body that indicates plenty ol capacitv: a relmed, clean-cut head and n - k, a straight hack; and a fairlv large udder that is evenly hung with large milk veins. A cow of this lpo will nearly al ways he a good producer. This is on! half partner ship, however The fanner is the other hall and must provide the good conditions that enable the cow to do bcr best. Some dan . v men make Hie mis take of feeding all cows in the herd the same amount of gram mixture This pracl ice undei deeds the high producer and ivclin c milk How II over-feeds the low pro ducers and. since they can't lorn the extra Iced into milk, Ihev turn It into fat or wasle it. Dusting Radiator Before brushing out the dusty radiator, spread a dampened news paper under the radiator. Most of the dust will settle on the paper and not fly all over the room. Color Arrangement Is Important In Hooked Rugs Braided and hooked rugs, made at home from materials that have already seen service, can be used lo brighten rural homes. They add comfort, attractiveness, and color lo a loom, and may be made at small cosl. Kubv Scholz, Extension econo mist in food conservation and mar keting a! State College, .says that out- of the most important factors in making these rugs is color ar rangement. She suggests that plans be made for a scheme which is pleasing to I he eve and harmonious to the loom, which I he rug is to serve. The largest areas such as back grounds anil borders should har monize with the general tones of the room in which the rug is to he used. Consideration should also he given lo such other furnishings as draperies, upholstery, and pictures. As a general rule, at least two lliirds of the rags for the rug should he neulral or rather dark in color, says Miss Scliolz. Tans, brown., grays, and 1 1 v 1 1 1 blues ordinarily make I he musl suitable back grounds. for example, one-fourlh of the cloth lor I he background may be d.vcd a medium blown, one-fourlh light tan, and one-half golden brow n. In a rug of the various tone:. of brown, the addition of louche:, of orange, crimson, or bright green gives hie or accent lo the color scheme. what i i i.w;: I I.OOIM K WITH IIK.llli l I S BOS'ION.
