Bruce Etheridge today. Attendance by all the members of the board is expected, he said, as well as by all heads of departmental divisions. Discussions at the meeting will em phasize the Forest and Parks pro pram of the Deoartment. which the General Assembly will be asked to expand. Chairman Josh Worne, Rocky Mount, will preside. Etheridge urged all citizens hav ing problems or suggestions con cerning matters within jurisdiction of the board to appear at the pub lic hearings. (International) DEATHS mrs. alvin ri;i:ci; Funeral services were held at the Burnette Side Baptist church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon for Mrs. Alvin Heece, 4i), who died at her home at Lake Logan Saturday night Rev. Lucas Rogers officiat ed. Burial was in the church cemetery. Surviving are her husband; four sons, Elmer Recce, of Canton, Win I'red Recce, of Elk Mountain, and Robert Reeee, of the home; two daughters, Eva and Mildred Recce of the home; and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Rogers of Lake Logan. SAVEuptoH4- : on yowirmk : j COLD WAVE Upper Fines Creek Churches To Have Homecoming 5th A Homecoming Day program, sponsored by the Belmont Bap tist and Pine Grove Methodist churches of upper Fines Creek community, will be held Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Methodist church. All members, former members and friends of the churches are invited to attend and bring basket lunch. The program will begin at 10 o'clock, with preaching at 11 a. m., and singing and other ac tivities will continue until about 3:00 p. m. Arrangements are being made to bring a guest preacher to deliver the sermon. Miss Drinnon Attended 11th Convention Of United Rubber Workers Miss Florence Drinnon and Mrs. D. J. Howell have returned from a three weeks trip west. Miss Drin non represented the United Rub ber workers of Waynesville and At lanta at the 11th convention of the group which was held in San Fran cisco. They first went to Chicago, where they took a special train chartered by the United Rubber workers and from there went to Kansas City and South to El Paso, Tex. Here they left the train for a short trip to Mexico by bus. Their next stop was Los Angeles, and then on to San Francisco. They also visited Salt Lake City. En route home they stopped over in Louisville, Ky., where they visited Sgt. and Mrs. Kenneth Parrolt at Fort Knox. Mrs. Parrott is the former Miss Faustine Howell, daughter of Mrs. Howell.
