The October meeting of the
Woman's Society of Christian Serv
ice was held at the home of Mrs.
J. T. Noland.
After the regluar worship service
the program for the week of Prayer
and Self Denial was given. The
recipients of the off or in.-.; were
named and the needs given. An
offering was taken to be equally
divided between the Home and
Foreign Departments.
Mrs. S. L. Queen presided at
the business meeting during which
she lold of the improvements made
at the Dellwood parsonage which
included the construction of a hack
porch, some inside painting, a new
bedroom suite of furniture and
some other badly needed repairs
all accomplished through the co
operation of the Maple Grove and
three other churches comprising
I he Dellwood Charge.
Announcement was made of the
fall mission study, India on the
Threshhold, to he held at the home
of Mrs. Kcl Glavieh on Nov. 29.
Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Liner left
Saturday for Clearwater, Fla.,
where they are planning to spend
the winter with their son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
James Liner.
Ned Glavieh, who is attending
Davidson college, spent the week
end recently with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Glavieh.
Miss Elizabeth Ann Glavieh left
on November II lor Cumberland,
Md., after spending a ten-day vaca
tion with her parents on the Dell
wood road. Miss Glavieh held a
position as laboratory and x-ray
technician at Baltimore Hospital
before accepting work in Cumber
land. A fellowship supper for the peo
ple of Maple Grove church and
other churches on the Dellwood
Charge will be held at Maggie on
November 21 .
The residents of the Maple Grove
com nunity are justly proud of the
new road which has been under
construction since early summer
but are greatly relieved that most
of the dust and noise of machinery
