The meeting will include a number of selections by the high school band, and the yells of the cheering sec tion. The first pep meeting was broadcast last week, and proved to be an interesting program. The student body of high school will participate in the program, which wil be from 2:15 until 2:45. I ..Mil. .,.,. ,,l Mi, I, By Two Local Girls Large Audiences The program "Music Styles" heard each weekday evening, Mon day through Friday at 6:45 feat ures the ten talented fingers of Rette Hannah at the piano, and the lovelj oice of Ida Lou Gib son, both of Waynesville. The title for their program was selected because these two talent ed musicians do no one particular style or class of music. Each pro gram has a different style. Some evenings they resort to popular, the next to religious, and then swing into the classical selections. Tonight Miss Gibson will sing "Calm As The Night," "My Hero" and "A Kiss In The Dark." Miss Hannah will play "Dance the Dolls" and "Ole Man River. Their 15-minute program steadily gaining in popularity. 'ney, well known and talented Wavm-svillr vocalist, is heard three limes each week over at the piano by his mother. Interest in the weekly Saturday night Jamboree, featuring the five bands heard over WHCC is draw ing lnrger attendance each Satur day night. The two-hour program gets underway on the third floor of the Masonic Temple at 7:30 and goes on the air over WHCC from 8 until nine o'clock. The entire event is sponsored by the Ameri can Legion. The five bands play as many re quests as possible that are received throughout the week. Every effort is being made to make the pro gram the "Hit Parade" of hill billy music. Lots of humor is injected Tnto the show, and the audience partic ipates in a number of events dur ing the two hours. The introduc tions are made by Grandpappy "Bus." Uncle George, and Cousin .eno Radio Station WHCC. Mr, Matney has a program each Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and on Sundays at (i:3(l pin. He sings I 1 1 i popular songs and those of e.ileryears. He is accompanied Cattle Sale Was Broadcast Over WHCC Wednesday A 20-mir.utr ri-i4 ' ' selling ring of the HmelorU o...e was made Wednesday afternoon over WHCC. This was the first broadcast of cattle auction sale ever made from here. The program was delayed an hour due to the extra large number of animals which had to be judged before the sale. However, the broadcast started at 2:30 and con tinued for 20 minutes, with 2 ani mals being sold during the time, with the first 10 minutes being tak en up with introduction of winners of the show, and presentation of Col. McCord, auctioneer. The broadcast carried well from under the tent, with the noise of cattle in the background and the bids of buyers coming in clearly over the radio. Engineers kept tneir Angers crossed as they strung over 1,000 feet of extra line to get the pick-up. The line did not pick up any noises although it was trampled under foot by hundreds of people during the actual broadcast. The chorus sang from the main studio of the station, and under the direction of Ctisrtes -Isley.- The glee club made an outstand ing record in state contests last year, and according to the response received from their broadcasts arc headed for another banner year.
