It all reminds me how mioii we forget This is Holy Week, the most sacred of the year to Christians everywhere. It was on Monday in Holy Week that Jesus uenl into Jerusalem and cleansed the Tem ple. That is just what we need to do in Amenta today. We need to cleanse the temple of our national life, of our personal lives. The money changing and mercnrii'tiis ing. all good in their place, but which crowded God out of the an cient Temple, have crowded Him out of our national life. The most tragic indication of this is the recent decision of our Su preme Court ruling the teaching of the Bible oul ot our public schools Yet the very Constitution, which! our Supreme Court today inter prets in a way to close the Bible out of our public schools, was giv en us by godly men. When we read the history of its making, we find that there was dissension, selfish ness and confusion until the vener able Benjamin Franklin rose to his feet, reminded them that they had left God out of their deliberations, and that no nation could rise to greatness without God's blessing and guidance. He then made the motion that all sessions thereafter of the Constitution Convention be opened with prayer, which was unanimously carried. That is when the Constitution commenced to develop. History is clear enough on that. It was never the desire of the Founding Fathers of the republic that freedom of religion meant freedom from religion. Yet that is what the recent Supreme Court decision would seem to indicate. It reflects a growing neutrality, if not hostility, on the part of the government to religion Yet all about us the symbolism As they neared shore in the morning.
