The larcest telescopes ran make the moon appear only 24 miles awav By BETTY CLARKE AP Newsfeatures Beautl Editor Whip out your bicycle, tennis racket, golf sticks and swim suit, and exercise for beauty and health. You don't have to be an expert at any sport to enjoy it. The real purpose of engaging in it, besides your competitive spirit or love of the sport, should be to treat your muscles to a toning and your lungs to a good deep breathing tonic. One of the most beneficial exer cises for women is swimming. Per haps you can't swim the English Channel or wear a bathing suit as can Esther Williams. Maybe vuur best and only "strike'' is the dog paddle But don't be discouraged. Whether you put on the puppy wa ter act or do the breast stroke. Australian crawl or back stroke, swimming in any fashion will give play to a great number of muscles It will help develop lungs, slim down hips and stomach, strenat li en back and shoulders. Il w ill add grace to the walk. Golf will help slim the waist line through twisting and bending. Fencing is wonderful for the bean pole type of a girl who wants tu develop the calves ol her legs. Horseback riding is good for back muscles and carriage. Tenuis not jnly develops the forearm but also strengthens the entire body. Hi cycling is particularly good lor Un less and will slenderize hip-- it ,ou are persistent about it It you work in a silliiiu job. so much more important will n bo tor Villi tu exercise. Resides out door sports you will need to do -onie bending and stretching. Dur .ng the day you should take a few -econds away from vour job to hange vour position, stretch and lo some deep breathing. One movie star has a good nelliod to help develop deep ireallium She inhales as much an is she call, then slowlv expels it illi a whistle. She linds tins (un rolled breathing develops clu-l sir C s expansion, permitting deeper In -eailig. The exhaling, she says, can be timed to show progress, .:nd it the whistle is steady your control is good. W hen on vour vacation or week ends al the beach, walk barefoot wlicn'.-vor possible. It will help to strengthen the arches and is par liiiil.iriv beneficial to the girl who iisii.'llv wears spike heels. Walking is an invigorating sport There is nothing quite like a brisl; walk which can bring roses io vour checks and help keep your bodv shin. This is one exercise which can be done whenever the spu n moves you. foint Hostesses JRC Members rlave Shower For Make Clothing Miss Summerrow And Gift Boxes Hear Charles Edwards CANDIDATE FOR REPRESENTATIVE ON WHCC Friday, May 28 a! 8 P.
