M. Killian last Fri day afternoon. I Miss Penny discussed the work the being done in the fourteen D A R. approved schools throughout the I country. She also read a poem writ iten by a former student at C'ross jnore School. ' j Mrs. O V. Barker reviewed the D.A.R. Magazne, reading the mes sage from the president general j Mrs. J. W. Killian, regent ot the j chapter, presided during the busl ! ness session. She presented a bud get for the coming year as propo ;ed by the executive board, which i was adopted by the chapter Mrs. J. H. Howell, chairman ot Indian Work, announced that she had received 150 magazines for the Cherokee Indian School library, and Mrs. Charles E. Quinlan. nuia izine chairman, reported an addi tional subscription to the National Magazine. Mrs. J. M. Long, delegate to the ! district meeting of the D.A R held recently in Marion, reported on the ; meeting. She stated that the local ; chapter was represented by leu j members and one pag. Miss Doro thy Lane Prevost. a member of the Joseph Howell Chapter, Children of the American Revolution Mrs. Long also extended an invitation to the chapter, from Dr. Mary Martin Sloop of Crossnore, to the dedica tion of three new buildings al Crossnore which will take place on October 23 and will he attended h;. around 75 national oM'iccr.v The in vitation was given by Dr. Sloop in appreciation of funds which have been contributed by the Wayncs ville chapter to the liuildinv! fund at Crossnore.
