Martin Mrs. Martin is the former Miss Lula Frank Medford. daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Dewey Medford. Her wedding took place Saturday evening in the First Methodist Church. Martin The marriage of Miss Lula Frank Medford, daughter of Air. and Mrs. Bryan Dewey Medford of Waynes ville. to Edward Carson Martin of Charlotte, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Park Martin of Sumter. S. C, was solemnized at the First Metho dist Church on Saturday evening at 8 o'clock. The Rev. Russell L. Young, pastor of the church, offi ciated. The altar of the church was banked in evergreens, palms, and tall standards of woodwardia ferns, interspersed with seven-branched floor candelabra. Prior to the ceremony a pro gram of wedding music was pre sented by Miss Bette Hannah, or ganist, and Miss Merrill Green and Bronson Matney, vocalists. Miss Hannah played Schubert's "Serenade," "Ave Maria," "O. Promise Me," "Always," "Indian Love Call" and "Traumtri". The traditional wedding marches were used and. "Clair de Lun'" was played during the taking of the vows. Miss Green sang "Ich Liebe Diche" and Mr. Matney sang, "Be cause" and "The Lord's Prayer". The bride, who was fjiven in rnar riapc by her father, wore a gown of white chantillv lace over white satin, with pepluin and shoulder epaulettes ol while .satin bound in seed pcails and a high round nvek lino. The lull-lenpth sleeves, with ciilla lily points, were also finished with a duuble row of seed oeails The bodice was close fitting, with a shadow scalloped yoke, and the full skirt fell in a circular train Her veil of illusion was linger tip and worn with a halo trimmed in .seed pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white roses and gardenias, showered with stephanotis. Miss Mildred Medford. sister of I the bride, was maid ol honor. She I wore a gown of nile preen at.n maids were Miss Harriett Martin of Sumter, sister of the bridegroom. Miss Sarah DeFravio. of Charlotte! and Mrs. Ralph Ouimrfte of Wash ington, D. C., both cousins of the bride. The bride's table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake flanked with tall white tapers in crystal holders tied with hows of maline. Book Club Has Husband's Party At Unagusta Camp The members of the Waynesville Book Cub entertained with their annual husband's party on Sunday evening at Camp Unagusta on the Pigeon Road. Honor guests for the occasion were three new members of the club and their husbands and in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Don Wat kins, Mr. and Mrs. David Hyatt, and Dr. and Mrs. Boyd Owen. I Miss Betsy Lane Quintan is pres- I ident of the club. j Mrs. Nixon : Is Honored At Dessert Bridge Mrs. Samuel Stringfield, Sr., Mrs. Thomas Stringfield, and Miss Mar tha Stringfield were joint hostesses of a dessert bridge given at the home of the former on Thursday afternoon, in honor of Mrs. Corne lia Nixon, who is leaving soon to re- side in Charlotte. Mixed arrangements of fall flow ers were used throughout the resi dence as a decorative note. Contract was played at seven tables and after the games prizes were awarded to the holders of high and low scores. Mrs. Nixon was also presented a gift. Clyde Students Have Picnic At Camp Hope A group of students from the junior ami senior classes of Clyde High School held a picnic supper and square dance Friday night at Camp Hope above Canton. Mr. and Mrs. Weaver Cliapinan were ohaperones for the occasion. Miss Betty Bass and Miss Martha Sandlin, Clyde teachers, were also present.
