Collins of Clyde has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Nell Collins, to William Boyd Burch, son of Mr, and Mrs. V. D. Burch, also of Clyde. The wedding will take place in June at the Clyde Baptist Church. Miss Collins is a graduate of the Clyde High School and attended Mars Hill College at Mars Hill and Gardner-Webb Junior College at Boiling Springs. While a student in college she was a member of the Baptist Student Union, Mental Hy giene Society, College Choir, and International Relations Club. She now holds a position with the Fire stone Home and Auto Supply here. Mr. Burch is also a graduate of the Clyde High School. During World War II he served three years with the army, two years of which were spent overseas with the 10th Armored and 80th Infantry Divi sions. Rocers was elected missionary education leader at a joint meeting of Circles Nos. 1 and 2 of the Woman's So ciety of Christian Service of Ihe Clyde Methodist Church, which was held last week at the home of Mrs. V.evi Morgan. Mrs. Hannah Is Hostess For Clyde Club Meet Mrs. Bill Hannah was hostess for the January meeting of the Clyde Woman's Club, which was held on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. C. E. Brown, Jr., presided. Mrs. Grover Haynes, citizenship chairman, was In charge of the pro gram and gave an interesting talk on "United For Peace". Mrs. Weaver Chapman, Mrs. De voe Medford, and Mrs. George Hanger were appointed to serve on 'a committee to make plans for a tea to be given by the club in honor of the Clyde School faculty. Committee chairmen gave re porters and Mrs. George Hanger, finance chairman, reported that $37.90 was derived from the sale of Christmas Cards. Mrs. Devoe Med ford, courtesy chairman, reported that flowers and fruits were sent to honorary club members and also sick members at Christmas time. During the social hour the host ess vas assisted by Mrs. Pat Cole in serving. Date Is Changed For D.A.R. Meet A change has been announced in the date of the January meeting of the Dorcas Bell Love Chapter of the daughters of the American Revolution. The meeting will be held on Sat urday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. John M. Queen, Sr., instead of the regular meeting date. Mrs. J. W. Killian, regent, will preside and Mrs. James M. Long will be in charge of the program. Dr. I. B. Funke returned Sun day from a month's vacation spent in Arkansas. She was the guest of a nephew in Little Rock and visit ed another nephew in Huntsville. En route home she stopped in Memphis, Tenn., for a visit with friends. Wesleyan Guild To Meet Tuesday The Wesleyan Service Guild of the First Methodist Church will meet next Tuesday night at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. Rufus Siler.
