ton, and is serving in the Adjutant

To Be Honored
This Morning
Mrs. Hoy Pai knian and Mrs. Guy
Massie will entertain with a coffee
this morning at the home of Mrs.
Parkman in honor of Miss Betty
June McCracken, bride-elect of
their nephew, Thomas M. Ray.
The residence will be decorated
with arrangements of jonquils,
winter jasmine, and japonica and
a color scheme of green and yellow
will be noted in the appointments.
During the first hour guests will
be greeted at the entrance by Mrs.
William Mcdford and will be in
troduced to the receiving line by
Mrs. T. Lenoir Gwyn.
Receiving with the hostesses will
be Miss McCracken and her mo
ther, Mrs. Carey McCracken, and
Mrs. Bonner Ray, mother of the
bridegroom-elect.
Mrs. liugn Massie will receive in
the dining room and Mrs. S. H.
Bushnell will preside at the coffee
table. Assisting in serving will be
Mrs. C. J. Heece, Mrs. Carleton
Weafherby, Mrs. Joe Massie, Mrs.

The table will be covered with a
Maderia cloth and centered with
a crystal bowl of jonquils and nar
cissus flanked by yellow candles in
crystal holders.
During the second hour Mrs. Ben
Sloan will be at the front door and
Mrs. Gwyn will again introduce the
guests to the receiving line. Mrs.
Francis Massie will receive in the
dining room and Mrs. Dan Wat
kins will preside at the coffee table.
Goodbyes will be spoken to Mrs.
Ralph Prevost.

Meet Tonight
The Wayncsville Music Club will
meet tonight at ft o'clock at the
home of Dr. Mary Michal.
Mrs. Philip Chase will be in
charge of the program.

Thomas Stringfteld returned last
night from Atlanta, where they at
tended a four-day medical sympo

Mrs, W. W. Davis, who has been
confined to her home lor two weeks
on account of injuries received in
a fall, is improving.

Bob Gibson, studenl at Clemson
College, is here for a visit to his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert H.
Gibson, during the period between

Met Tuesday
The liertnr's Guild nf Grace
Episcopal Church met on Tuesday
evening at the home of Mrs. J, F.
Abel, wilh Mrs. Robert Osborne
presiding.
Reports were made by commit
tee chairmen and plans for future
projects were announced.
Refreshments were served fol
lowing the meeting.

Has Advance
Day Program
The Woman's Society of Chris
tian Service of the Mapb. Grove
Methodist Church met for an Ad
vance Day program on Friday at
the home of Mrs. Edward Glavich.
The four points of Advance were
discussed by the following mem
bers: Mrs. Leonard Leatherwood,
Mrs. C. R. Palmer, Mrs. C. G.
Reed, Mrs. Richard Queen, Mrs.
Glavich, Mrs. J. T. Noland, Mrs.
J. E. B. Houser, and Mrs. Frank
Nichols.
During the business session
plans were made for the year's
work and the society decided to
uccept an invitation from the Lake
Junaluska Society to hold a joint
Mistion Study on China in Febru
ary.
Four new members. Mrs. Hilliard
Moody, Mrs. Lou Palmer, Mrs
Leonard Leatherwood, and Mrs
J, E. Toy( were welcomed into the
Society.
Mrs. J. E. B. Houser sang "God
of Grace and God of Glory" as the
closing number on the program.
Fourteen members of the society
attended the meeting and a covered
dish luncheon was served.
The tiext meeting of the group
will be held on Friday, February
18, at 2 o'clock.

The Morning Star Home Demon
stration Club held its January
meeting on Monday at the home of
Mrs. M. B. Hyatt, with Mrs. Paul
Hyatt, president, presiding.
The demonstration, "Know Your
Organization", was given by Miss
Mary Margaret Smith, home dem
onstration agent.
Project leaders reporting were

H.-L. Morgan on gardens and home
beautification; Mrs. W. J. Muse on
poultry; Mrs. W. C. Moody on

crafts; Mrs. R. R. Mease on health;

tion; and Mrs. W. F. Nix on dairy.
A book report was given by Mrs.
Mease on "Yankee Stranger",
Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Lutz have
returned to their home on the
Eagles' Nest Road after a stay in
Florida.

week-end in Greensboro as the
guest of Dr. and Mrs. S. P. Gay.
