R. 50th Anniversary Held At Towne House HighlihliiiK Ihp (I'lrbralioii of the 501 h anniversary of the organi sation of the Dorcas Bell Love Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which was held at the Tow lie House on Thurs day, were (he address of Miss Gertrude Carraway, state regent, the tribute to the organizing regent by Mrs. S. She spoke of the work done by Mrs. Mai Love Stringfield Wulbern, or ganizing regent of the chapter, and til -t elected state regent. Mrs H N Barber intro duced the regents in the district. A response was given by Mrs Vic tor McQuire of Asheville. Mrs. J R. Boyd presented the four charter members who reside here: Mrs J Howell Way. A number ol special guests were introduced by Mrs Gwn. includ ing Mrs. Mary Stringfield Allen and little Mary Love Stringfield. niece and great niece of the organizing regent. In illustrating' how the chapter is bringing in younger groups, she presented Mrs Way and her grand daughter. Mrs L K. Barber, the latest member to join the chapter. Representing three generations, she introduced Mrs J. H. Howell, and her daughter-in-law. Mrs. J. H. Howell. Jr. and the tatter's young daughter. Carey, who is a member of the Children's Chapter, CAR. In showing four generations, she presented Mrs. J R. oyd, her daughter. Mrs Glenn Tweed, her granddaughter Mrs H B. Phillips, and the latter's small daughter, Emmie Jones Phillips, the latter a member of the Joseph Howell CAR chapter. The luncheon table had a motif of yellow and blue, with yellow candles in silver holders and bowls of mixed yellow and blue flowers. Auxiliaries To Have Joint Meet The Auxiliaries of the Ameri can Legion and Veterans of For eign Wars will hold a joint call meeting in the Little Court Room at the Court House Wednesday night, February 2. at 7 o'clock. Sentelle, local attorney, has returned from a five-day visit to Duke Hospital, where he under went a complete physical check up. An operation was postponed for further study of his condition.
