Little Symphony To Appear Here On Thursday Under the direction of Dr. Ben jamin Swalin, the Little Symphony ol the North Carolina Symphony, will appear here on March 17 to present concerts at 2 o'clock in the alti '(noon and at 8:30 o'clock in the evening at the Waynesville High School auditorium. The afternoon concert by the I.iltle Symphony is a free program for high school students which will include compositions with special appeal for a youthful audience. The Lit He Symphony, as well as llie Full North Carolina Symphony, is partially financed by member ship subscriptions throughout the slate and by an appropriation made by Hie Slate Legislature, both of which make possible the free cliildi.'ii's concerts. Several Programs Set For Week At Clyde Methodist Special to The Mountaineer) A number of special activities are being held at the Clyde Metho dist church thruoghout this week, according to announcement by Rev. V. T. Medlin, Jr., pastor. Last night officers of Methodist Youth Fellowship groups from the Haywood county sub-district held a council meeting at the Clyde church to map out programs for next month. Bill Mainus of First Methodist church, Canton, was in charge. Business matters of the church were discussed by the board of stewards at a session yesterday evening at the home of J. C. Hay nes. .At 7 p. m. Thursday, the com mittee on evangelism and church membership will meet at the church to make plans for a home visitation program. Fridav at 7:30 p.m., a circle of the Woman's Society of Chris tian Service will be organized for the young business women who are unable to attend afternoon meeting- ol other church circles. Mrs. Medlin will preside over this or ganizational meeting in the little auditorium at the church. Women of the church will serve a baked ham supper at the Clyde school cafeteria from 5:30 to 8 j). m. Saturday. Proceeds are to Ho on the church building fund.
