The contest was a feature of the opening program of the third an nual Home Appliance Show. But John iust shaded Miss Sam- mv Mavnes of Clvde for top honors. and Billy Bishop of East Waynes- ville was a close third. The judges, Hub Caldwell of Wavnesville route 2, Mrs. C. C. Francis, Waynesville route 1, and Bob Boone. Wavnesville route 1, based their decisions on the ap plause each contestant or group of contestants drew from the 500 spectators. Hazel- wood veterinarian, as county rabies inspector. Dr. Riegg plans to launch the 1949 rabies inoculation program for all dogs April 1 in clinics that will be set up throughout the county. The Department said dog own ers must have their pets inoculat ed against the disease within 90 days after the program starts. The last two years, the depart ment reported, the response was good. But dog owners were warn ed that they could be signing their pets' death warrants if they failed to comply with the inoculation law. Dogs found without inoculation tags after the deadline are liable to be put to death. Such failure also subjects flu- dog owner to a fine of $10 to $50 or a 10-to-30-day sentence. Members of the Clyde School I faculty will be hostesses to the Haywood County Classroom Teach ers at a meeting Wednesday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. Clyde Recreation Unit Leaders Hold Meeting The Clyde liecreal ional and Cultural Commission was scheduled to hold a meet i nt; at the school Monday at 7:30 p. m.
