Honored At Tea
By Home Club
Miss Mary Margaret Smith, Hay,
wood County Home Demonstration
Agent, was honored at a tea given
Tuesday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. T. Lenoir Gwyn. by members
of the twenty home demonstration
clubs ol the county. The affair fol
lowed a program held at the Court
House during which the clubs paid
tribute to Miss Smith for the out
standing work she has done in the
county.
Guests were greeted upon ar
rival by Mrs. L. J. Cannon, secre
tary of the Home Agent Depart
ment. In the receiving line, with
the guest of honor were Mrs. W.
D. Ketner, president of the County
Council of Home Demonstration
Clubs; Mrs. Hiram McCracken,
vice-president of the Council; Mrs.
Otis Cole, secretary and treasurer
of the Council; Miss Elise DeLoz
ier, assistant home agent; and Miss
Nancy Poston, president of the 4-H
Club County Council. Mrs. Gwyn
also assisted in receiving.

white was carried out and vases
of spring flowers were used
throughout the residence as a deco
rative note. The tea table was
covered with a lace cloth and cent
ered with a bowl of jonquils and
daffodils, flanked by yellow tapers.
Around two hundred home club
members and guests Called during
the hours from three to five o'clock.

lan left Tuesday by motor to visit
in Richmond, Newport News and
Washington, D. C. They were ac
companied by Mrs. Alexander's
daughter, Judy, who returned to
St. Catherine's School in Washing
ton after a visit to her parents at
Cataloochee Ranch.

North Carolina State College, was
the speaker for the March meeting
of the Waynesville Homemakers
Club which was held Tuesday
night in the dining room of the
First Methodist church. Mrs. Ben
Phillips presided.
Mr. Harris discussed landscap
ing problems and demonstrated his
suggestions on a flannel board with
miniature trees, shrubs and build
ings. He explained planting shrub
bery and trees so that undesirable
portions of the lawn might be
screened from view and showed
colored slides of typical homes and
lawns.
A covered dish supper was serv
ed before the speaking, and hus
bands of the members were spec
ial guests. An invitation to the
lecture by Mr. Harris was also fx

of ears from each hedkehog they
kill. The scheme was reported to
the legislature by Rep. Robert
Greely of Windham. He said the
extra ears were carved from the
joint of the forepaws.
