Lenoir Gwyn. by members of the twenty home demonstration clubs ol the county. The affair fol lowed a program held at the Court House during which the clubs paid tribute to Miss Smith for the out standing work she has done in the county. Guests were greeted upon ar rival by Mrs. L. J. Cannon, secre tary of the Home Agent Depart ment. In the receiving line, with the guest of honor were Mrs. W. D. Ketner, president of the County Council of Home Demonstration Clubs; Mrs. Hiram McCracken, vice-president of the Council; Mrs. Otis Cole, secretary and treasurer of the Council; Miss Elise DeLoz ier, assistant home agent; and Miss Nancy Poston, president of the 4-H Club County Council. Mrs. Gwyn also assisted in receiving. Presiding and assisting in the dining room were Mrs. Carl Mcd ford, Mrs. T. C. Harris, landscape specia list of the extension department of North Carolina State College, was the speaker for the March meeting of the Waynesville Homemakers Club which was held Tuesday night in the dining room of the First Methodist church. Mrs. Ben Phillips presided. Mr. Harris discussed landscap ing problems and demonstrated his suggestions on a flannel board with miniature trees, shrubs and build ings. He explained planting shrub bery and trees so that undesirable portions of the lawn might be screened from view and showed colored slides of typical homes and lawns. A covered dish supper was serv ed before the speaking, and hus bands of the members were spec ial guests.
