Wrap in a towel and iron while quite damp. Iron laces and pieces with embroidery from the wrong side. The embroidery will stand out even clearer if ironed on a turklsh tow el. Leather buttons or belts will look newer and brighter if they are rub ber with saddle soap, which may be obtained at drug stores. Fur trimming is not generally found on basic dresses, not the kind we would attempt to wabh anyhow. Rut the white lapin or lambs wool found . on house-slippers, mittens, children's clothes and even negligees can be washed in lukewarm water and mild suds. Don't squeeze or vring as they may break the leather skin under the fur, but pat the water out be tween a towel and dry in the sun or near a fan. Fluff the fur as it dries. Some foods, such as fish, make a pan smell disagreeable. This is be cause food oils which. cling to the pan have a tendency to hold in the food odors. Baking soda can emul sify the oils and remove this odor quickly and effectively. It can sweeten sour types of odors, too. To remove the odors, soak uten sil with baking soda solution (3 tablespoonfuls of baking soda to a quart of water). Follow this pro cedure by washing in hot soapy water. Rinse and dry.
