It may have been the president of the United States,' a distinguished foreign visitor, a wer iter who has won our love and admiration for his part in the victory, or an adventurer home after performing a great eat such as Charles A. Lindbergh after his solo flight across the Atlantic. People come from every section of the city to applaud. We clap our hands, scatter ticker-tape or confetti on the car in which he is riding, wave flags to show our admiration. Today's lesson tells of Jesus' great day, when He made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem to the Hosannas of the populace who hailed Him as the Messiah. Jesus' had spent the night at the home of His close friends, Mary, Martha and Lazarus, where He was always sure of a welcome and understanding. He arrived Friday evening from Jericho, spent Saturday, the Sabbath, there, and started for Jerusalem on Sunday. "And when they draw nigh unto Jerusalem, unto Bethphage MEMORY "Blessed is he that cometh in the and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sendeth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go your way into the village that is over against you' and straight way as you enter into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat; loose him, and bring him;" Without question or hesitation, the two entered the village, found the colt so tied, and took him. To some who questioned their act they simply answered, as they had been told, "The Lord hath need of him." When they returned with the colt, they laid their robes upon him, Jesus mounted, and they pro ceeded on their way with one vast throng of people following or sur rounding Him, and another one, from the city, meeting them. "Many spread their garments In the way : and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way." And all the people cried, "Hosanna: Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord." I. president of the New Orleans. I.a.. Baptist The ological Seminary, made this state ment recently in urging Sunday School attendance on the part of American families: The family and the Sunday school have a heaven-born affinity. They are vital parts of the two most fundamental of all institu tlons, namely the home and the church. God established the home in the Garden of Eden, the first in stitution. God puts first things first, Christ founded only one institu tion, the church. Love ties the home together, the church togeth er, and the two each to the other. The whole family should go to Sunday school. The family and the Sunday school should be hound in holy union, a holy wedlock. If so. both will live happily ever after. The Sunday school helps take the Hible. the family altar and every Chris tian virtue into the family rela tions. The family takes loyalty, co operation and numbers into the Sunday school. The whole family Will be blessed by going to Sunday school. A heavenly union of family and Sunday school will produce heav enly offspring. This union will bring unity of spirit, godliness of life and spiritual service into the family. Such a union will go far to cure the divorce evil and will vir tually wipe out juvenile delinquen cy. The family and the Sunday school working together make soul-winning easy. It will build a Christian social order. Why not take your family to Sunday school? Church Of God HAZELWOOD The Rev. Hush J. His Authority WITHOUT QUESTION . 15-18; LuK 19:29-48 His trrumpharit entry into the Holy City, His enemies were plot ting His death and how best it might be accomplished. Indeed some of the Pharisees among the multitude saW to Him, "Master, rebuke Thy disciples," But Jesus replied, "I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out." St. Luke tells us that when Jesus came near Jerusalem He wept over it, knowing that it would eventually be destroyed, and even He could not save it for it would repudiate Him. Jesus went Into the temple, looked about, nd then returned to His friends in Bethany, but in the morning. He entered and be gan to throw out the money changers who were doing busi ness therein. In those days tribute was de manded to the Sanctuary, and it must be paid in exactly half shekels. Besides the Palestine sil ver and copper coins, Persian, Tyrian, Syrian, Egyptian, Grecian and Roman money was in circu lation, arid the money-changers must have been kept busy mak ing change. A fee or fixed charge was made on every half-shekel, we are told, VERSE name of the Lord!" Mark 11:9. and if a person offered two half shekels he had to pay double, and there were many ways in which the money-changers could enrich themselves and the tem ple officials at the expense of the people. Filled with righteous anger, Jesus threw them all out and overthrew their tables, and later, teaching, He said: "Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves." In a few days, after Jesus' tri umphal entry into Jerusalem, He was to give His great Olivet Dis course, to institute the Lord's Supper, experience five trials, bo put to death on the Cross, rise and appear five times before His friends. For "The chief priests and scribes heard of His action in throwing the money-changers from the temple and His after-remarks while He taught therein, and they "sought how they might destroy Him : for they feared Him, for all the multitude w as astonished at His teaching." by 'The International Council of Helltoua uieinouiea oy ninj rraiurei aynaicaie Morning Star Methodist Charge Astnond.
