Vance, Mrs. Dewey Pless, Hugh Graduation Give ) -'ft That Glides Across The Years SheafferS I Home Clubs To Have Federation Day In Franklin The second district of the Slate Federation of Home Demonstration Clubs will observe Federation Day on Tuesday, May 24, with an all day meeting to be held at the Methodist church in Franklin. The principal address will be given by Miss Iris Davenport, wo man's editor of the Southern Agn cuiturist. Other special guests will include Mrs. George Apperson of Mocksvillc, president of the State Federation of Homo Demonstra tion Clubs. Mrs. Henry Francis, district chairman of home demonstration clubs, will preside. The program will include county reports on home demonstration and 4-H clubs. Mrs. Otis Cole. Hay wood County Council Secretary, will report for the Haywood home clubs and Miss Nancy Postorf, mem ber of the Bethel 4-H Club, will make the report for the Haywood 4-H cluhs. Miss Poston will also serve as a page for the meeting. Committee reports will he given during the business session. Mrs. Paul Hyatt will serve on the reso lutions committee, Mrs. W. C. Moody will serve on the courtesy committee, and Mrs. Pat Cole will be on the registration committee. The meeting will open at 10:00 a. m. and will adjourn around 3 p. m. Lunch will be available at the church. V.F.W. Auxiliary Names Delegates To Convention The regular meeting of the Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars was held Monday night at the Court House wit). Essie Mae Hall, Lt. Bisson Are Married Lt Essie Mae Hall, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Hall of Clyde, was married lo Lt. Roger R. Bisson, son of A. L. Bisson of Springfield, Mass. in a ceremony at Fori Sam Houston, Texas on April 22. The bride, given in marriage by Major E. P. Quinn, wore a gown of white chantilly lace and carried a nosegay of spring flowers. Mrs. William Whiteley attended the bride as maid of honor and Mr. Whiteley served as best man. Alter a reception at Brooke Army Medical Center Officers Club, the couple left for a trip to Colorada. Mrs. Bisson is a sister of Zaire G. Hall of Canton. She is a gradu ate of Western Carolina Teachers College and received her M. A. degree at George Peabody College. Before entering the Women's Spec ialist Corps, II. S. Army, she taught physical education at Shelby Sen ior High School and In Spartan burg, S. C. city schools. She is tak ing training in physical therapy. The bridegroom attended North eastern University before entering military service. He served with the 12lh Armored Division in I'Vance and Germany and is now an instructor at Medical Field Service School at Fort Sam Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore B. AND MRS. HARROI) ARRIVE FROM JATAN Dr. and Mrs. John P. Harrod, Jr., arrived today from Japan for a visit tfl the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Harrod, at their home on the Dellwood Road. Dr. Harrod, who is serving with the U. S. Medical Corps, has been sta tioned in Japan for the past two years. He was assigned to the 49lh General Hospital in Tokyo and later was stationed at Sendai, Japan. This is the first visit Dr. and Mrs. Harrod have made lo I he States since their marriage in Japan last November, and they have been , visiting relatives in Chicago and Savannah. Mrs. Stewart has been extensively entertained since her arrival and numerous social events have been planned to honor all of the visitors.
