May Traffic Deaths Drop 23 Per Cent There were more traffic acci dents on North Carolina highways last month, but they caused fewer deaths than those of May, 1948. The State .Motor Vehicles Di vision which released the figures this week, noted that traffic deaths during that month showed a de cline for the first time this year. There were at total of 1,509 acci dents during the mouth. In May 1948 there were 1,327 Forty-ei(!ht persons lost their lives in traffic accidents during last May 23 per cent fewer than the May 1948 toll.
