Prom reports furnished by
Messrs. Wirth and Bayliss, who ac
companied the Public Lands Com
mittee in their inspection of the
Parkway and Park and attended
Ihe public hearing in Asheville, the
trip was well worth the Commit
tee's time in learning at first-hand
of the work remaining to be done
to complete the Parkway and the
further development of Great
Smoky Mountains National Park.
You are to be congratulated on
the manner in which you organized
and directed the hearings and the
inspection trip. From the action
taken by the Committee, we feel
that your efforts have been re
warded by more complete know
ledge and a desire to further the
Service's aim to complete the
Parkway and Park development for
public use and enjoyment as soon
as possible.
Sincerely yours, Hillory A.
Tolson (Sgd.), Acting Director
