C. Burrell Hurls Locals To Win Hazelwood took a 9-7 Fourth of July victory from Canton's Pig eons Monday afternoon before a large holiday ciowd at the Way nesville Township High School lield. Abe Sizemore held the Craggies to three safeties as he and his mates took the seven-inning open er, 8-2, behind an eight-hit offen sive of their own. In the seven-inning nightcap, Wilson of Craggy, pitched a two hit game at WaynesviUe, but two hits were all the Merchants needed as they won, 3-1. WaynesviUe cinched the opener with five runs in the third frame. Successive singles by Second Base man Royce Richie and Left Fielder Jim Brackett. and a walk to Wayne Caldwell filled the bases. Then Price drew a pass, sending Richie home, and First Baseman Hugh Constance slammed a double, and Hurler Sizemore singled, send ing two men home each. Richie, with two singles and a double in four appearances, and Brackett, with two safeties in three lipies at but, led Waynesville's hitters in the opener. The event is annually one of the major events of the season and the two evenly matched teams play their best ball of the season. In the past the first and second and seventh and eighth place teams furnished players for one squad with the four mid-section teams combined as one team. Each team in the league is rep resen'ed by four players and those selected are expected to be an nounced w hen the loop officials and managers meet on July 18.
