"The Small Sects in Amer ica," :i survey of America's smaller church denominations written hv Dr. Klnier T. Clark, noted reliK ious mai;a7.ine editor, came ofi Hie piess hist Monday. Dr. Clark received the notice from his publishers. Abingdon Cokesbiiry Press of New York City and Nashville. Tcnn., at his summer home at Lake Junaluska. Miss Lilyan Doss, manager ol the .Itinaltiska Bookstore, an nounced shortly afterward an auto graph pally for Dr. Clink would he held Friday, when the volume first noes un sale in the store. In his latest work, the editor of the Methodist monthly. "World Outlook." draws the conclusion that no church, regardless of its sjze, lias ever been able to avoid schisms or olher kinds of division. "In the small sects," he declares, "one sees religion as it springs naturally from the naive and sim ple heart that craves touch with the supernatural, and is unaffected by the conventions and the scl ent ilie leadings of a sophisticated society." He also declares his respect "for their adherents sincerity, and rec ognizes the spiritual value in their -er ice " The new book lists nearly 500 different denominations that exist in the United States. This is more than twice the number ever found by a U. S. census. Many of them Dr. Clark lists are unknown to mo-t Americans for instance, the denominations like The Croat 1 Am, the Temple of Vahweh, Ihe Church of the Old Time Religion. 'Akashic Science Chin ah.
