More thsn 1.500 Tennessee phy sicians have agreed to set fees and 13 private insurance companies are writing policies under the Ten nessee Medical Association's plan for prepaid surgical and obstetrical insurance. On the set fee basis, the insur ance would cover surgical and ob stetrical bills in full for insured persons wth an income of $2,400 or less a year and for all insured persons with dependents whose total family income is $3,600 or less a year. Persons earning more than that can take out the insur ance, but the physician is not bound to accept the set ice as his full payment.
