Williams of Raleigh were hon- j ored at a number of social events i in Raleigh preceding their wed- j ding on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. I,. S. Harris. Miss j Betty Bell and Robert V. Williams entertained informally in the Manteo Room of the Sir Walter ' Hotel Tuesday evening Bridal decorations of green and white were carried out. The table ' was covered with a Madeira cloth and centered with an arrangement of bride's roses. Mephanolis and gypsophilia. A wedding cake was cut irst by the bride and groom-elect and was then served by Mrs. Kdga." Hunt Goold. of Waynesville. mother of the bride-elect. Mrs W. C. Harris presided at the punch bowl and others assisting were Mrs. Don Freeman. Mrs Sam Wilkerson. Mrs. Carl Mims. Mrs. Jack Holland, and Miss Mary Brooks. Those attending included the wedding party, out of (own guests, and close friends of the coupl . Monday evening Miss Goold :.nd Mr. Williams were honored at a party given bv Mr. and Mrs. Don ald G. Freeman. Bingo was pljved and prizes were awarded. Miss Goold was presented a white carna tion corsage and an honor gift of crystal. Dahlias decorated the living room and white gladioli were used in the dining room. Around sixteen guests were pres ent. Last Dance Of Season To Be Saturday Night The last dance of the season will be held Saturday night at the Pied mont Hotel under the sponsorship of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Dancing will begin at 9 p.m. and music, by Teddy Martin and his orchestra, will feature Noble Gar rett. Jr , at the drums. Advance tickets are on sale at the Ladye Fayre Beauty Shop. Girl Scout Council Will Meet Wednesday An important meeting of the Hazclwood-Waynesville Girl Scout Council will be held at the Girl Scout Hut, Wednesday night, at 7:30 o'clock, according to an an nouncement by Mrs. Howard Hy att, president of the organization. All troop leaders, co-leaders, and troop committee members are asked to attend the meeting as well as the board of directors and its committee members. McKimmon Club Meets In Canton The McKimmon Home Demon stration Club of Canton held an all-day meet ins Monday at the home of Mrs. W. L. Amnions on Ihe Queenstown Road. Mrs. Paul Hyatt presided and a devotional program on "Faith of Women" was presented by Mrs. C. F. Owen. A demonstration on floor sanding and maintenance was given by Albert Fortune of Asheville, as sisted by Ed Fortune. Mrs. W. F. Nix, home dairy lead er, spoke on the importance of sanitation for quality milk in the home and pointed out the financial advantage of Grade A milk bonds. Mrs. Albert Sprinkle, educa tion chairman, urged Ihe members tocomplete their book -reviews-before October 15 in order to be eligible for 194!) reading certifi cates. Mrs. L. M. Smathers gave the Foods and Nutrition report stat ing that daily menus should be watched to keep families physical ly fit. Mrs. H. L. Morgan. Garden lead er, discussed cover crops for fall gardens, and Mrs. C. F. Owen. Family Life leader, advised physi cal check-ups for children before they enter school. Mrs. W. J. Muse, poultry lead er, discussed poultry diseases and the care of poultry. Miss Willie Smathers exhibited a number of shell crafts and made suggestions for making shell gifts. The following members of the club, who attended Farm and Home Week in Raleigh, reported on that event: Mrs. L. M White. Mrs. w. L. Ammons. Mrs. L. J. Cannon. Mrs. Paul Hyatt. Miss jVillie Smathers, Mrs. Mark Auberry. Mrs. H. L. Morgan, and Mrs. W. J. Muse. Two of these members were awarded prizes during the week. Miss Smathers won an electric churn and Mrs Morgan won four gallons of house paint. Special guests for the meeting were Mrs. C. M. Sprinkle and Mrs. J. K. Picken. The ceremony took place in Clayton, Ga., on Tuesday, Aug ust 23. The bride was attired in a white suit with blue accessories. Mrs. Ammons attended t h e Waynesville Township High School and at the lime of her marriage was employed al the Haywood County Hospital. Mr. Ammons also attended the Waynesville schools and is now employed at Royle and Pilkington Company. The couple is residing en Aliens' Creek.
