Answer: II. U ('.arris, extension
plant pathologist at Slate College,
say:, thai crops resistant lo rool
knot and suitable in rotations to
reduce the incidence of the disease
include oals. rye. wheal, erotalaria,
peanuts, red top grass, and many
native weeds. Cotton or corn (an
he used in a three-year rotation
provided these crops do not imme

are some sample three-year rota
lions which have given good roo!

weeds, oals and weeds, tobacco;
peanuls, oals and weeds, tobacco;
col Ion. peanuts, tobacco; red top.
led top; tobacco; erotalaria, oats
and weeds, tobacco. Small grain
winter cover crops, especially oats
antl rye. give good results.
II three-year rotations cannot be
convenienl ly followed. Garris ad
vises using resistant crops In a
two-jear rotation, always using a
winter crop of small Rrain.
Don't expect full benefits in
highl infested fields with one com
pleted rotation, he adds. Continue
rotations indefinitely to aid in keep
ing down all diseases.
