Fla., were married on Satur day. October 1, at 5 o'clock in the home of the bride's aunt. Mrs. B. A. Mattison, in McCormick, S.C. The Rev. Matthew Evans Boozer, pastor of (he First Methodist Church of McCormick. officiated. The bride wore a gold gabardine suit with brown accessories and her corsage was of bride's roses. Miss Aurelia Caudle of McCor mick. the bride's only attendant, wore a gray suit with matching accessories. James R. Morrow of Greenville, S.C., served as best man. An informal reception was held immediately following the cere mony Mrs. Carr is the daughter of Mrs. John B. Britt and the late Dr. Britt. She is a native of Mc Cormick and was educated at Win throp College, the South Carolina College for Women. For a number of years she taught in the public j schools of Canton, where she was . making her home at the time of her marriage. Mr. Carr is the son of Hie late Mr. and Mrs. William S. Carr of' Stevens Point, Wis. He is a vet-j eran of both World Wars, having ; served in the Navy in the first war and in the Army in World War 11. He has been employed since his release from the Army with the U.S. Treasury Department. ' Safety Discussed By Crabtree-Iron Duff P-TA Group By MRS. ROY MEDFORD Mountaineer Correspondent The Crabtree-Iron Duff Parent Teacher Association met at the school Thursday night, for the reg ular monthly meeting. with (52 present. James Kirkpatrick. president, was in charge, and the Rev. C. O. Newell led the devotional. The topic for discussion was "Siu'ety Education." Among those taking part on the program were Mrs. Hugh Noland. Mrs. Frank Kirkpatrick, and Fred Noland. The association voted to continue the sponsorship of the Boy Scout work in the community.. Larry Ferguson, Jr., gave a solo during the program. The association will meet again on November 18. Miss Cody Heads Morning Star 4-II The members of the Morning Star 4-H Club elected KaMiryn Cody as their president recently during their first meeting of the new school year. Sam Smathers was elected vice president; Christine Fisher, secre tary and treasurer; Troy Mann, re porter; and Judy Ensley, song leader. Assistant Home Demonstration Agent Elise DeLozier and Assistant County Agent Joe Cline outlined the projects for the new year and explained the meaning of the club's four-leaf clover emblem. Woody were hosts of a barbecue supper at their home on the Country Club Dr'Ve Saturday evening in celebra tion of their twcnty-fiflh wedding anniversary. Supper was served at long tables decorated with autumn leaves and aranged near fireplaces on the lawn. Assisting the hosts in receiving and serving were their daughter and son, Laura and Stephen Woody, and Mrs. M. H. Mr. and Mrs. Woody were mar ried in Atlanta, Ga.. on November 19, 1924 and resided there until 1940 when Mr. Woody became pres ident of the First National Bank here. Mrs. Woody is the former Miss Anne Foote, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter O. Foote of Atlanta. Mr. Woody is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Woody of Cataloochee. Hallett Ward Is Honored At Buffet Supper Hallett Ward, Jr., was honored at a buffet supper given by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Ward, at their home at Lake Junaluska Sunday evening. The party mark ed the seventeenth birthday anni versary of the honor guest and was given as a surprise. A color motif of pink and white was carried out in all the ippoint ments. The dining table was cent ered with a large birthday cake, flanked pink candles in silver hold ers and arrangements of pink roses were used in decorating. Smith, pas tor, officiated, using the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with palms and Wood wardia fern, ivory gladiolus and chrysanthemums and was lighted w ith candles. A program of wedding music was presented by Miss Ann Bracked of Florence, S. C, cousin of the bridt vocalist, and J. B. Rhea, organist. Miss Bracket! sang "Through Ihe Years" and "Because" and Mr. Rhea played "Ah: Sweet Mystery of Life", "Londonderry Air" and "Beautiful Dreamer". The tradi tional wedding marches were used, and "Liebestraum" was played dur ing the ceremony. The bride, who was given in mar riage by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin made wilh a portrait neckline trimmed with self ap plique and a yoke of illusion. Her fingertip veil of imported illusion was attached to a coronet of orange blossoms and illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of ivory bridal roses centered with while butler fly orchids. Mrs. T. J. McGee. Jr., of Atlan ta. Ga., sister of the bride, was matron of hoifor and wore a gown of shell pink taffeta fashioned with portrait neckline and full gathered skirt. Her halo was of ivory chrys anthemums and she carried a bou quet of the same flowers. Mrs. Mack J. Stiles of ('anion, also a sister of (he bride, vats bridesmaid and was dressed like the matron of honor. Dr. T. J. McGee. Jr.. of Atlanta, brother-in-law of the bride, was best man, and ushers were William D. Bracket I, cousin of the bride, of Challanooga. and Jack J. Sliles of Canton, brother-in-law of the bride. Following the ceremony a recep tion was held in the home of the bride's parents for members of the families. Mrs. Carver, mother of the bride, wore a black silk dress and a corsage of pink gardenias, and the bridegroom's mother wore a black silk dress and a corsage of white gardenias. Alter the reception the couple left for a wedding trio. For travel ing the bride wore a copper gab ardine suit with dark brown ac cessories and a corsage of white orchids. Mrs. Hosp attended Western Carolina Teachers College and was graduated from the Barhizon School of Fashion Modeling in New York City. Lt. Hosp is a graduate of Duke University and Long Is. land College of Medicine. He in terned two years at Newark City Hospital, and is now on active duty in the United States Navy Medical Corps.
