Clyde In Beauty Contest Jewel Evans, Clyde High S'-hool senior, has been elected to lepre sent the South Clyde Community Development Program in the beau ty contest which will be a feature of the annual Tobacco Harvest Fes tival November 22-26. Miss Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Evans, was elected beauty queen contestant at a meeting of the Clyde organization Monday night at Louisa Chapel. Attendants, who will ride on the Clyde float in the parade, with Miss Evans, are Shirley Welch and Mat tie Lou Justice. They were run-ners-up in the election of the queen contestant. Lloyd Justice was appointed n serve on the committee which is to plan a float for the festival. Hub ert C. Sponsored by the Lake Junaluska Parent-Teachers Association, the Hallowe'en Carnival will start at 7.30 p.m. at the Lake Junaluska School. Some 30 merchants and business men of Waynesville. Canton, and he Lake Junaluska area teamed tip lo donate the prizes. The evening's entertainment will 'eature a beauty contest for men oopularity contest, costume con ests for both adults and cl.ildren i baby contest, bean guessing con cst, cake walks, and many other !ames. The candidates in the beau y contest will be judged on how they look in women's clotlies. There also will be refreshments for the thirsty and hungry guests. Mrs. Lee Evans, the Lake Juna luska P-TA president who is direct ing the arrangements for the event, today expressed gratitude and ap preciation on behalf of her organ ization to the merchants and others who contributed the prizes. In addition lo the awards to the contest winners there will be a door prize and a consolation door prize. The winner of the men's beauty contest will get a change of oil and free lubrication for his auto, while the runnerup will receive a motor tuneup for his car, and the winner of third place will get a quart of motor oil.
