Haywood Tobacco Farmers Burley tobacco, in one respect is just like Carolina Power and Light Company, as both are helping make Haywood a more progressive county, and add materially to the economic welfare of its citizens. Burley brings into the county approximately one million dollars each year. This money goes to 1,500 to 1,600 farmers, and is a sizable sum that adds much to their income. Carolina Power and Light Company, besides spending thousands upon thousands each year in Haywood for taxes and payrolls, is con stantly striving to improve services, and keep ahead of the power needs of the people. Evidence of this is the 66,000nvolt line now nearing completion between Canton and the Hazelwood sub-station. Yes, the burley crop, and Carolina Power & Light Company are among those things that are helping make Haywood a better place to live. Carolina Power & Light Co.
