Mr. Yountz Makes Rotary Talk To Clyd Hev. J. E. Yountz emphasized to Kotarians here Friday the Im portance of "attaching to ithe bet ter things of life, and holding Qn to them." The First Methodist pastor point ed out that "what we are by attaeh .i..nt ujp nuke of ourselves.' When we are detached from the better things of life, we also lose in fluence." He stressed the need of every person attaching themselves to those" things which provide a 'channel to express leadership, and to be something worthwhile to self and community." lie urged that all people should be aggressive and useful, and to unite with only those things which have ideals that are of the highest and finest 'qualities." Jack Messer Talks e PTA Jack Messer, superintendent of Haywood County Schools, was chairman of a program on "Visual Education and Jts Usefulness in the Classroom" , at a regular meet ing of Clyde Parent-Teacher Asso ciation Thursday afternoon in the school auditorium. Mr. Messer pointing out that vis ual education does not tane the place of teaching but that it does speed up and promote the work of education, introduced a number of teachers. Each explained how she uses the film and projector in her classroom as a teaching aid. Pupils of these teachers were also brought into the discussion and an'wered questions to show how readily they learn through seeing ideas on the screen. Teachers who participated were Miss Fatsie Freeman, Mrs. Edith Cannon and Mrs. Mary Brooks. Mrs. Howard Shook introduced Mr. i Messer. ! The devotional prpgram wSs led by Mrs. Pat Cole. Mr- Mattie Mann gave a prayer and Mrs. Pau line Goodson directed the group song. . Banners for the largest number ! of parents present for the meet-1 ing went to Mrs. Cannon's second and third grades, for the elemen-, tary school, and to Mrs. Edith White's eleventh grade, for the ; high school.
