The program included a demon stration on Gift Suggestions by Miss Mary Cornwell and the pro ject leader reports as follows: clothing, Mrs. Plott;. home man agesment, Mrs. C. L. Mrs. Newell Is Hostess Of Home Club The Crabtree-Hyder Mountain Home Demonstration Club held an all-day meeting, Tuesday at the home of Mrs. C. O. Newell. Mrs. Marshall Kirkpatriek pre sided during the business hour and plans were made for the January meeting to be held at her home. Miss Jean Childers, assistant home agent, gave a demonstration on gift suggestions. A Christmas party was featured in the afternoon with an exchange of gifts by the members. Baptist Junior Girls Have Annual Program The Junior Girls Auxiliary of the First Baptist Church held its annual Christmas party and special program on Foreign Missions in the Social Hall of the Church, Fri day evening. Mrs. C. C. League, counselor for the group, was in charge and all the girls participated in the pro gram. A special offering was tak en for foreign missions. Gifts were exchanged during the social hour and refreshments were served by Mrs. League and her as sistant, Miss Evelyn Siler. A Christmas tree was featured in the decorations for the meeting and twenty-six girls attended. Adm. W. N. Thomas of Lake Junaluska left Friday for Wash ington, D. Clyde CDP Secretary Mrs. Robert Evans was elected secretary and Miss Jewell Evans, assistant secretary, of the South Clyde Community Development Program last Monday night. The elections were held during the rfteetlng at Louisa Chapel to fill the .vacancy caused by the resig nation of Miss Lucille Cathey, who has accepted a reporter's position with the Greensboro Daily News. Miss Cathey also was reporter for the County ' Community De velopment organization. The residents also planned a "tacky party" for December 15 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Haynes. The final plans for the party will be made at the next community meeting, which will be held De cember 12. It was announced that work on the mail boxes is progressing nicely. Assistant County Agent Herbert Singletary told the audience that the South Clyde community was one of the six chosen for the TVA watershed program. He also discussed the advantages of using fused tricalcium phos phate. Community Chairman William Osborne urged all farmers to sign up for the phosphate.
