went into .the. credit business to
day. Several weelu ago the com
mittee mailed seals to some 2,500
people., A large number have re
sponded in fact, 70.685 of the
seals have been paid for at one

Three Hurt As
Autos Collide In
Canton Mbhday
Three people were hurt, none be
lieved seriously. Monday afternoon
when two cars collided at the in
tersection of Oak St. and Highway
19-23 In Cannon.
Police Sgt. H. C. Moffitt said
Sewell Hipps. Sr., 68-year-old pa
per company foreman, suffered
shock and bruises; Miss Judy Da
vis, 16, of Canton, who was riding
in the' second car; sustained in
juries about the face; and Bobby
McCIure, 18, so of Canton, driv
er of the second car, suffered knee
abrasions.
All wre treated at a local phy
sician's office.
The officer said the accident oc
curred as the car driven by Hipps,
who was riding alone, entered the
highway from Oak Street.
The elderly man was thrown out
of his auto by the impact.
D. Wayne Queen, 19, of Canton,
who was riding with McCIure and
Miss Davis, escaped injury.
Both cars were badly damaged,
police reported.

Staging Varied
Yule Programs
"Helping Others" is the title of
the play to be given Friday night
at the Hazelwood Baptist church
by the junior department.
Those in charge announced that
"Christmas treats" will be given
out utter the play.
The church will also observe a
White Christmas service, with gifts
of food and clothing being brought
in for needy families.
Sunday evening at 7:30 the an
nual Christmas cantata, "The Lost
Star" will be presented by the
choir.
Many members of the congre
gation will also join the group of
carol singers at 7:30 Saturday night
on Main Street, and tour the com
munity singing Christmas songs.
