The judging was done by the Journalism Dc Partment of Emory University. ; Last week The Mountaineer received four awards one from the Haywood Demonstration farmers, and then three press awards from the North Caro lina Press Association. Naturally, as anyone might realize, we are grate ful for each of these awards, and accept them with gratitude, and profound civic and professional pride. However, in accepting such 'honors, we are aware of the added responsibilities that must of necessity accompany them. The beautiful award from the farmers of our county was in appreciation for our cooperation with them in their comprehensive program. . The three awards from the Press Association were for the standards which we attained in the publish ing field. As we accept these awards, and place them with prido in our office, we pledge to our readers, the de termination to give you the best newspaper we know how lo produce, and to'continue our undivided co operation in the promotion of all things worthwhile yes, the everlasting presentation of those things which in our humble opinion will make "Haywood an even better place in which to live." To that end, we dedicate the awards and honors we have recently received.
