Mrs. Hyatt Is Re-Elected Head Of GS Council Kirs. Howard Hyatt was're-elect-ed president of the Hazelwood Waynesvllle Girl Scout Council at a meeting of the organization held Friday afternoon at The Hut. Elected to serve with Mrs. Hyatt are: vice president, Mrs. Rankin Ferguson; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Jonathan Woody; registrar, Mrs. L. K. Barber; training chairman, Miss Betty Jean Alley; nominating chair man, Mrs. Bill Prevost; troop or ganization chairman. Mrs. Dan Watklns; camping chairman, Miss Alice Flncher; Program committee: Mrs. George Blschoff, chairman, Mrs. W. M. Cobb, and Mrs. Carl Mundy; fin ance committee; Johnny Cudde back, chairman, Bill Dover, and Lester Burgln, Jr.; Scout Hut com mittee chairman, Mrs. Roy Park man; and public relations chair man, Mrs. Ben Sloan. Further plans were made for the Girl Scout camp tq be held at Camp Hope, June 18 to 15, for all Intermediate and senior troops. Mrs. . Hyatt announced that a short film, "Women of Tomorrow The Story of Girl Scouting as It Happens, will be shown soon at one of the Waynesvllle theatre and asked the council members to assist in making arrangements for all girls to see it. Mrs. Harriet Estes Observes 93rd Birthday Today One of Haywood's oldest citizens. Mrs. Harriet Brendle Estes, Is ob serving her ninety-third birthday today. , ;. Mrs. Estes, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brendle of Haywood County, is the widow of Goldman Estes. She Is the mother of nine children and has forty eight grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. She is still active about the house and pursues her favorite hobby of quilt making. She Is making quilts for each of her grandchildren and this winter has completed fifteen. Mrs. Estes also likes to enter tain her friends and family with the true stories of her girlhood during the War Between the States. Mrs. Estes divides her tlm be tween her children who live In Hay wood and Swain Counties.
