Saunook Girls
Get Trophy For
Sportsmanship
Mrs. Charles Sparks
Mountaineer Correspondent)
A meeting of the Saunook De
velopment Program was held this
week with the Rev. N. h. Stephens,
chairman in charge.
During the business session, the
Sportsmanship Trophy, won by the
Saundok girls, was shown to the
group and it was defcided that a
tasfe be built in the schbol build
ing to hold the trophy. Clifton
wa9 fespetlally good When it had to
be.
The hitting could be better, and
it will be as the boys get another
game or two tinder their belts.
Teague's biggest worry is the
fact that he's got Only one capable
starting pitcher, southpaw Jimmy
Kuykendall, he indicated yester
day, may have to start every same
the rest of the season.
He will, huwfever, haVe a chance
to get some rest, since Teague has
a couple of hurlers developing
who'll be good for relief roles.
Teague generally was happy
over the opening performances tf
his youngsters, at least one of
whom was Playine his first' ball
.game. That ona wailittle Joel Bur-
rcll, who covered third ' ,
One of the brightest spots In the
picture is that this entire team, ex
cept for the three starting out
fielders, will be back next season,
and most of them the season after
that.
