Bradley, mother of the bride-elect, joined the group for dessert. Mrs. Harrod Is Honored At Farewell Shower A handkerchief shower was giv en last Friday nght by the V.F.W. Auxiliary as a farewell courtesy to Mrs. John Harrod, a member of the group who is leaving today for her new home near Savannah, Georgia. The party was given at the home of Mrs. Roy Campbell which was decorated with spring flowers. The gifts were presented to the honoree by little Miss Sara Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas. Those present for the occasion were Mrs. Harrod, Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. James Thomas, Mrs. Charles McDarrls, Miss Edna McCracken, Mrs. J .C. Rose, Miss Frances Rose, Miss Clara Dotson and Mrs. Sebe Bryson. A short business session of the auxiliary was held prior to the party with Mrs, Thomas, president, presiding. A Mardi Gras theme was carried out and the walls were decorated with large masques, paper hats, and horns. Vari-colored paper streamers were also used and place cards were miniature masques. The class mascots, Danny Leath erwood, son of Mr, and Mrs. Irv ing Leatherwood , and Vicky Rus sell, daughter . of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Russell, were dressed as clowns. Charles Womack, president of the class, was master of ceremonies, and the program was in charge of Gene Yarborpugh. Prior to the program the group sang. "Happy Birthday," to Donny Leatherwood, Jimmy Galloway and Mary Dorcas Howell, who observ ed birthdays during the week-end. Carleton Weatherby, school prin cipal, gave the invocation and June Hundley gave a toast to the fac ulty to which M. H. Bowles, school Superintendent, responded. The King and Queen of Mardi Gras, selected by secret ballot, as the seniors assembled for th ban quet, were introduced by Bobby Owen, Kathryn Hyatt was chosen as queen and Donny Leatherwood reigned as king. A humorous reading, "June Night," was given by Vivian Wat- kins and Miss Alma Jackson sang, "If I Had My Way," accompanied by Jimmy Galloway. Mrs. J. M. Kellett, ; a former member of the school faculty, spoke briefly and the class pro phesy was giyen by Nancy Floyd and Elaine Francis. The Last Will and Testament was given by Mildred Medford and other numbers included a piano solo by Jimmy Galloway, and vocal solo, "Through The Years, ' by Kathleen Calhoun. "Star Dust" was given as a solo by Frank Jayncs. . .
