Has Last Party
The Tally-Ho Club of the Way
ntsville High School ck!ed the
school year with a wiener roast
given at the Moody Farm on Wed
nesday night. Peggy Moody was
hostess for the event.
Miss Alma Jackson and Marshall
Teague, faculty members, were
chaperons.
The club, a dramatics group, has
had as officers this year: Mary
Jane Rogers, president; Betty
Noland, secretary; Lillian Medford,
treasurer: Ann Rector, historian:
and Miss Jackson, faculty advisor.

Banquet Is Held
At The Lodge
The annual Junior-Senior Ban
quet of St. John's High School was
held Wednesday evening at The
Lodge.
The school colors, green and
yellow, were noted in the appoint
ments and the table was centered
with arrangements of mixed flow
ers flanked by green and yellow
candles.
Walter Taliaferro served as toast-
master and Barbara Jean Potts,
president of the Junior Class, paid
tribute to the Seniors,
The Class Prophecy was read by
Robert Jeter, a junior, and a tri
bute to the school was given by
Dolf Klenast, a member of the
senior class.
Hallett Ward, also a senior, gave
the Last Will and Testament.
Gifts were presented to each
graduate by Walter Taliaferro on
behalf of the school, and memories
of school days vere reviewed by

with a slumber party at her home
in Grimball Park Wednesday night
During the afternoon preceding

swim and later attended a movie

their son, Sgt. Harvey Rowan Ray
and Miss Shirley Belvelhelmer,
which will take place on Saturday.

Cherokee Exhibit
Creative paintings and articles
of handicraft, made by students in
the Haywood County and Waynes-1
ville Schools, are receiving praise
by art critics at the First Annual
Cherokee Art and Craft Exhibit,
according to Mrs. Frank Brown.
Mrs. F.rown, who is a supervis
ing teacher in the Waynesville
Townihip, made the entries for the
local schools and served with a
committee at Cherokee in arrang
ing and selecting articles for the
exhibit.
The exhibit will be open to the
public today, Friday and Saturday
and from 2 until S o'clock Sunday
afternoon. A number of Haywood
county teachers are making plans
to take their classes flver for a
visit. . '

ending their high school years
with a "bang.
They started last night by hav
ing a slumber party at the Girl
Scout Hut. The girls there were
Betty Ann Browne,. Patsy Green,
Betty Hale, Marjorie Woody. Kath
leen Calhoun, Edna Callahan, Viv
ian Watkins, Alice Marie Burgin
Joan Morris, Mildred Medtord
Mary Osborne and Coretta Hension
Bette Hannan," Dulf Kienast and
Mary Lu F.lwood accompanied the
girls to a movie but didn t spvnd
the night. Miss Alma Jackson
spent the night with them.
After their graduation exercises
tonight, Mildred Medford Is hav
ing open house. Plans are to but
becue chicken, eat and dance.
Tlien they're going to Betty Ann
Brown's for breakfast.
After that they'll be high school
seniors no more they'll be fresh
men in college, married, or "just
graduates."

Sophomore Girls
Are Entertained
Betty Felmet and Shirley Mae
Connatser entertained a group of
sophomore girls at events yester
day and today to mark the closing
of school.
The group was entertained with
swimming and a picnic with Miss
Felmet as hostess at the Welch
Farm yestefrday afternoon after
which Miss Connatser entertained
with a slumber party.
Today the girls hiked around
Lake Junaluska, picknicked and
enjoyed a swim.
