Palmer of Waynesville, Route 1, will celebrate their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary at their home, Sunday, Oc-1 toner 29. They were married on October 25, 1895. Mrs. Palmer, who is 78 years of Age. is the daughter of the lat Joseph and Josephine Noland of Haywood County and Mr. Palmer, who is 81, is the son of the late Lafayette and Nancy Jane Palmer. They have seven children: Mrs. C. D. Sisk of Asheville, Mrs. C. R. Cald well, Vaughn Palmer and Kimsey Palmer of Waynesville; Vinson Palmer of California, Vernon Palmer of Hickory, and Arlo Palmer ef Lrnoir. E. Waynesville 4-H Club Names Officers Fifteen memhers attended the first meeting of the East Waynes ville 4-11 Club, held Tuesday after noon In the school. Mrs. Thomas Erwin presided and the demonstration on Different Ways To Prepare Meat was given by Miss Jean Childers, assistant home agent. Mrs. Coy Pressley conducted the devotional and reported on com munity services of members of the club. Mrs. J. E. Burnette was named chairman of a committee to ar range exhibits for Appte Week. Textile Painting Is Studied By Home Club Members of the Saunook Home Demonstration Club were given a demonstration on Textile Painting at the October meeting held Mon day afternoon at the home of Mrs Carl McCracken, Jr. The demon- stration was 'given by Miss Mary Cornwell. Mrs. Galloway is the former Miss Helen Irene Graham, daughter of Mr, and Mrs, W. E. Graham of Clyde, Her wedding took place in the Central Methodist Church in Clyde, last Sunday afternoon. Helen Irene Graham Weds Grady Ranson Galloway Miss Helen Irene Graham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Graham of Clyde, became the bride of Grady Ransom Galloway, son of Mrs. Ernest Ray of Whit tier and the late Elbert Galloway, In Central Methodist Church at Clyde, Sunday afternoon, October 22. The Rev. W. P. Medlin, pastor of the church, performed the cere mony. The altar , was ' decorated with white gladioli, pom-pom chrysan themums, and seven-branched can delabra against a background of Oregon ferns and rhododendron. A program of wedding music was presented y..,MlsS Janice Smathers, organist,; and Carl Paint er, vocalist. Mr.' Painter isang ''Be cause', "At D'dw'nihg", " and "The Lord's Prayer". "LeibRslraum'' was. played during the ceremony and the traditional wedding marches were used as processional and re cessional. ' The bride, who was given in mar- riage by her father: wore a gown of candle-light satin with basque waist and full skirt ending in a cathedral train. The collar and pep- lum were ertibroidered with seed pearls and her only ornament was a gold lavalier which belonged .to her maternal grandmother. Her tiered veil of French illusion fell from a satin cloche and she car ried a bouquet of white chrysan themums and gla-mellias. Miss Margaret Graham of Mar tensburg, West Virginia, was her sister's maid of honor. Her dress was of petal pink taffeta with an overskirt of nylon marquisette and short cape. She wore matching taf feta mitts, a picture hat of nylon marquisette, and carried a colonial bouquet of chrysanthemums. Bridesmaids were Miss Peggy Dean of Sylya and Miss Doris Gra ham, sister of the bride., They wore dresses of exotic blue taffeta and marquisette, identical In design to that of the honor, attendant, and carried colonial bouquets. Miss Ruth Hyde' Of Rutherford ton and Miss Doris- Lewis of C00 leemee, cousins of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. Their dresses were- of yellow -taffeta' fashioned with Grecian necklines, short puf fed sleeves, and full skirts and they wore matching picture hats and carried colonial bouquets. Henry Galloway of Stecoah, N. C brother ( of the bridegroom, served as best man and ushers were James White; C. C. Weaver, W. H. Brown, all of Asheville, and Jimmy Graham, bf other of the bride. Mrs. Graham, mother of the bride; wore a turquoise blue slik dress with black felt hat and a corsage of red carnations. The mother of the bridegroom wore a powder blue silk print with black hat and a corsage of white carna tions and gypsophilia; Following the ceremony the par ents of the bride entertained at an Informal reception in their home, Assisting In receiving were Mrs. R L. Allison, Mrs. A. P. Lewis, and Miss Llla Lewis, aunts : of the brde, Mrs. E. M. Rogers, and Mrs. Woman's Society Gives Reception At Church An informal reception was given in the dining room of the First Methodist church. Wednesday even Ing, with members of the Woman's .Society of Christian Service as hostesses. Honor guests were Dr. F. Love, retiring superintendent Of Lake Junaluska Assembly; Dr. C N. Clark, retired district superin tt-ndent of the Methodist church The Rev. W. J. Huneycutt, new dis trict superintendent; the Rev. J E. Yountz, pastor of the church and their wives. The dining room ,was decorated tor the occasion with autumn fol iage and arrangements of chrysanthemums. Receiving with the guests of honor were Mr. ,and Mrs. Henry Gaddy, the latter president of the hostess Society; Noble Gairntt chairman of the board of stewards of the church, Mrs. Garrett; and Dr. H. G. Allen new superinten dent of the Junaluska Assembly and Mrs.' Allen. Others receivine werp officers of the Woman's Society. Mrs. Guy Massie and Mrs. Rufus Siler ereet ed the callers and Mrs. David Hyatt. Mrs. Carl Mundv. Mrs. W A. Hyatt, and Mrs. J. H. Howell Sr., presided at the table. Assisting in entertaining were Mrs. Hugh Massie, Mrs. Fred Campbell, Mrs. J. H. Howell. Jr Mrs. J. c. Crouser, Mrs. Ernest Hyatt, Mrs. Joe Davis. Mrs. Rnv Tuttle, Mrs. G. W. Boston. B S degree from Western Carolina Teachers College and did post graduate study at New York Uni versity. He served four years with the Coast Guard during World War II and was released to inac tive duty with the rank of senior lieutenant. For the past four years he has been a counselor with the North Carolina Department of Public Welfare. The couple wiil reside at 135 Flint Street, Asheville.
