If there ever was an accommo dating deer in this section of the country, Vernon M. Hhea can well claim the animal. The other morning Rhea felt' it was his lucky day lor deer hunting. Leaving town at nine o'cloik hp drove to Sherwood Forest. After a tew minutes chat with the game wardens, he took otf alone through the woods to the top of a high ridge. He climbed the ridge at a fast pace, and as he got to the top he stopped to rest. He had not been there but a minute when on i His- tant ridge ha saw a deer hopping down the slope like a rabbit, Hhea took careful aim, and fired 1 a 30-30 bullet at the animal. The duuci shattered one of the deers' hind legs. But that did not stop it,! from bounding'down the ridge and i through the iorest like a streak. I Rhea followed the trail of blood until where the deer crossed the j half-frozen creek. The cold water i momentarily stopped the blood.1 and it was sometime before the trail was found again. When it was found, Khea followed the deer and saw it standing on the edge of the road. Ho fired another bullet into its neck, where it dropped on the shoulder ot the road. Rhea walked about a mile to get his tar, and then it was just a matter of picking up the animal and putting it in the car. He found that the animal had run a mile and a half after being hit. At 11:30 Rhea was back in town, with his 172-pound buck a buck that was very accommodating in that it made its way to the road instead of going back into the rug ged mountains. !"-:.Vvv.,;-:;.;;-: f -r r VV k 1 I ' - WW Ur- : i L nryr? , I News From Cecil Area By MUS.
