Miss Virginia Home of Wades-
boro, regent of the North Carolina
Society of the Daughters of the
"American Revolution, was the
guest speaker at a meeting

ternoon with Mrs. James Harden
- Howell, Sr., and Mrs. J. H. Howell,
Jr., as hostesses in the home of the
former.
i Miss Home discussed the ac
complishments and objectives of
the National Society and told of
the organization of the Society in
North Carolina more than fifty
''years ago. She gave a brief history
of the first three chapters, which
were in Charlotte, Salisbury, and
Waynesville, and staled that there
are now 77 'chapters with more
than 4,000 members.
. Mrs. Ruth Lyons of Wadesboro,

Carolina Society, was also a guest
it the meeting and announced that
the D A R. Year Rook for 1950-51
has been dedicated to the first
three chapters in the state.

After the meeting the hostesses
entertained at a tea, Christmas
decorations were featured through
out the house and the tea table,
covered wtih a lace cloth, was cen
tered with an arrangement of hoi

v holding red candles.

Homemakers Clubl
Has Annual
Christmas Party
The Waynesville Homemakers
Club held its annual Christmas
party at the home of Mr. and Mf s.
Marion Bridges on Saturday night.!
Hostesses with Mrs. Bridge were
Mrs. Carl Ratcliffe, Mrs. H. O.
Champion, and Mrs. Jimmie Wil
liams. Special guests were husbands of
the members. :
Christmas decorations were used
throughout the house and a wire
recording of the evening"s activities
was made by the host.
Charles Isley led the group sing
ing of Christmas carols and at the
close of the program the members
exchanged hand-made gifts. Toys
were presented to the husbands.

Pet Dairy
Gives Party
For Employees
The annual Christmas party for
employees was given by Pet Dairy
at The Lodge, Saturday evening, v
Johnny Edwards, manager of the
dairy, and Mrs. Edwards acted as
hosts for the occasion and dinner
was served at tables, which were
decorated in the Christmas motif.
Special music was presented by
Miss Esther Mae Gibson, pianist,
and Miss Frankie Cecil, soloist.
Character Impersonations were
given by James Gibbs, well-known
negro.
Gifts were presented after the
program.
Around sixty-five employees of
the dairy with their husbands and
wives, attended the party.

A buffet supper was served after

elwood today announced the en
gagement of their daughter, Doris,
to Robert Queen, son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. L. Queen, also of Hazel
wood. The wedding will take place In
the near future.
Miss Bolin and Mr, Queen both
are graduates of Waynesville
Township High School.

The American Legion Auxiliary
will hold a regular meeting Tues
day night at 7:30 o'clock in the
Commissioners room at the Court

Will Have Pageant
A pageant, "Ho, For Christmas,"
will be presented by the Lake
Junaluska School, Tuesday night at

ium. The Rhythm Band and the Chime
Band of the school will present
