Brooks of Chattanooga, Tenn. The wedding took place in the Swallow Savannah Methodist par sonage in Allendale, S. C, on January 14, with the Rev. James T. Trammell performing the cere mony. The bride wore a white gab ardine suit with navy accessories. i.Mrs. Brooks is a graduate of Fines Creek High School and of Peace College. She received her B. S, degree from the University of Tennessee. She is now employed by the Polk County Board of Pub lic Instruction as a physical edu cation instructor tn Fort Meade, Florida, where she plans to finish the present school term before joining her husband in Charleston, S. C. Mr. Brooks graduated from Cen tral High School in Chattanooga, and attended Los Angeles City Col lege. He received his B. S. degree from the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and of Eta Kappa Nu honorary electrical en gineering society. He served five years in the army during World War II. Mr. Brooks is at present an electronics engineer at the Charles ton Naval Base. Charleston S. C. Waynesville Girl's Work In Art Forum An interior design by Miss Frances Leatherwood, of Waynes ville, will be part of the exhibi tion during the eighth annual Arts Forum of the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina. Miss Leatherwood's work was chos en as representative of the best studetU efforts during the past semester. On exhibit from March 8 to 10, the Forum will contain student work In the fields of the graphic arts, painting, and sculDturp. n well as an exhibition of profession al artists' work. Waynesville Man Wed Las,t Week The marriage of a Waynesville High graduate took place last week in Long Branch. N. J., when Miss Rita Maxine O'Kelly of Asheville became the bride' of Corporal Hugh Compton.Mhe son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Compton of Hazelwood Cpl. Compton is also a graduate of Mars Hill College; and is at pres ent stationed at Fort Monmouth N. J. D.A.R. To Hear State Reports The Dorcas Bell Love Chapter of me uaugmers of the American Revolution will meet at the home of Mrs. J. M. Long this Friday, March 9, at 3:30 p. m. The program will be devoted to reports from chapter members who attended the recent State confer ence at Rocky Mount. First Baptist Circles Schedule Week Of Prayer The Women's societies of the First Baptist Church will observe the Week of Prayer for Home Mis sions during meetings this week. On Monday at 7:30 the Woman's Missionary Society will observe the first meeting of the Week of Pray er. This meeting will be held in the Young People's Building. The Lot tie Moon Circle will have the pro gram. At the same hour the Busi ness Woman's Circle will meet with Mrs. Stanley Henry; Miss Mary Jo Green will have the program. On Tuesday at 7:30 the circles meeting will be as follows: Lottie Moon Circle in the Young People's Building; Fannie E. S. Heck Circle with Mrs. Maggie and Miss Mayme Clayton; Eliza Yates Circle with Mrs. J. E. Fender; Henrietta Hall Shuck Circle with Mrs. Richard Barber,- Jr., Mrs. W. Watts Announcement has just been made of the engagement of Miss Dovie Jean Hardin to Pvt. Herbert K. Watts, both of Canton. Miss Hardin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Hardin; and Pvt.
