his sixth birthday with a party at
Miss Lindslcy's Kindergarten last
Monday morning- lie was assisted
by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E M.
Rothermcl, his brother, Joel Roth
ermcl, and Miss Lindsley.
A yellow and white color scheme
was carried out and the birthday
table was centered with a decorat
ed cake holding lighted candles.
Balloons, whistles, and horns were
presented to the guests as favors.

Mrs. Ward is a graduate of
Peace Junior College. Raleigh.
Mr. Ward entered the Air Corps
last year while a member of the
Junior class at Wake Forest Col
lege. He is now stationed in Biloxl,
Miss , where the couple will reside.
He is a grandson of Mrs, D. C.
Campbell of Maggie.

Honored By
Joint Hostesses
Miss Pearl Hayes left today for
Atlanta, Ga., to report for duty at
the American Red Cross headquar
ters. She expects to be assigned to
a hospital unit following an orien
tation period in Atlanta.
Miss Hayes has been associated
with the Haywood County Welfare
Department since September, 1946.
She served first as assistant case
worker and was promoted to" case
worker following a year's special
training at the University of North
Carolina. She spent most of her
time in the Canton area.
Miss Hayes was extensively en
tertained during her last week
here.

celebrate two years as members of
the Community Development Pro
gram next Saturday night. Every
one is invited to attend. Refresh
ments and entertainment are plan
ned. The festivities will begin at
8 p.m. at the Francis Cove churcn.
Miss Jenny Van de Water was crowned Queen at the annual Senior
Prom of St. John's High School last Monday evening. She is shown
with King Walter Taliaferro during the coronation ceremony..
The prom featured a Mardi Gras theme and was held in St.
John's auditorium. Guests included a number of Waynesvillc High
School students.
Miss Laura Van de Water, sister of Queen Jenny, was maid of
honor for the event and was escorted by Junior Snyder. The grand
march was led by Miss Peggy Moody and Bruce Barton.
