Patrol man H. Dayton fnvestigated, and said Best applied his brakes, and the left front brake grabbed too quickly, causing him to hit the truck. The truck, loaded with gravel, was being driven by John Morgan, 30, of Route 3, Canton. The vehicle was a state highway truck. Best is of Clyde. Route 1, and received a laceration of the fore head, but was disc-harped ''tl'' treatment. Both car and truck suffered dam- j ages. I Free Square Dance On Slate In Canton Sat. The Town of Canton Recreation Department Is sponsoring a big free Square Dance in the Armory Saturday nipht. The event is being held Saturday of this week to cooperate with the Canton High School Party being held in the hiph school gym Friday night- Dancing will Ret under way at 8 o'clock Saturday night. The Fred Carpenter String Band will furnish the music. There will be door prizes- for lucky ticket hold ers. Everyone is invited. Cruso PTA Plans For May Events MBS. CHARLES LAYMAN mountaineer Reporter At the regular April meeting of the Croso PTA on Tuesday night, a number of plans were made for May events- Election of officers is to take place at the regular May meeting; and a minstrel show is planned for sometime during the month. A guest speaker will dis cusss "What the PTA Really Means to Our School." Don Reece was appointed to se cure the speaker, and a nominating committee for the elections was named. It members are J B. Shart, Mrs. Wiggins and Mrs. Marie Tay lor. '.:.: .-';'. Mrs. Marshall Beddingfie'd spoke on "Where Children Come First,'" and Mrs- Clifton Deaver gave the devotional. Mrs. Taylor's room won the atendance banner. Forty mem bers were present at the meeting. Crabtree WMS Holds Meeting MRS- MONROE N'OLAND Mountaineer Reporter , Thirty-eight, members and guests were present at the meeting last Saturday of the Women's Mission ary Society of the Crabtree Baptist Church. After the regular meeting, a picnic supper was spread out-of-doors. Members of the Girl's Aux iliary were among the guests. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Zimmery Hoglen. The date will be announced later. The Girl's Auxiliary of Crabtree Baptist Church will meet on Satur day, April 14, at 2 o'clock at the home of Miss Josephine Presnell.
