In the first three months of 1951, twenty-one new industries or expansions were announced for this area. More in vestment, more tax revenue, more j ibs, more opportunities for all will result. Carolina Power & Light Company, with all its neighbors, is pleased at the development of this section. But it is not surprised. Our engineers years ago planned for it and began building generating plants to meet the demands both of the coming industries and the people who would get jobs with them. In 1949, the first of two 65,000 horsepower units started putting power on the lines at our new Lumberton Plant; in 1950 the second unit was placed in operation there. A third unit (100,000 horsepower) is due in 1952. Within a few weeks, the first 100,000 horsepower unit at our new Goldsboro Plant will go into production, and another unit of the same capacity will be ready there next year. This foresight is the reason why THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A POWER SHORTAGE IN OUR AREA! n- , M, uu rr """M-' saw- j t.J 1 ' For The Future! At right, workers are shown completing bur Goldsboro Plant-the 13th on our system.
