Thomas Van diver is vice-president of the Caro- Vipa' National Bank at Anderson and Hubert Vandiver is an 0" --JUX. with Walking and Watkins m OLD HOME TOWN Woman's Club To Hold May Meeting In Methodist Church The annual May meeting of the Waynesville Woman's Club will be held in the First Methodist Church, Thursday, May 17. at 3:30 p.m. Mrs. Carl Killian of Cullowhee, president of the First District of Federated Women's' Clubs, will be the speaker and will report on the Federation meeting in Charlotte. Reports will also be made by offi cers of the club. New members will be especially honored. Hostesses will be Mrs. James R. Boyd. Mrs. Linwood Grahl, Mrs. T. L. Bramlett, Mrs. K. A. William son, and Mrs. J. E. Yountz. Attention is called to the change in place of the meeting. Woman's Society Holds Annual Supper Meeting "' The annual supper meeting of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the First Methodist Church was held in the church din ing room Tuesday night. The meeting marked the close of the year for the Society and an nual reports were given by the of ficers. Mrs. Henry Gaddy, presi dent, presided. Circle chairmen reporting on activities of their groups were Mrs. W. A. Hyatt, Mrs. J. M. Long, Mrs. Joe Davis, Mrs. Lawrence Leather wood, Mrs. James Harden Howell, Jr., and Mrs. Joe Jack Atkins. Mrs. Harry Whisenhufit reported for the Wesleyan Service Guild. Members of the World Friend ship group, composed of teen-age girls, were special guests and Lin da Sloan, president; gave an ac count of their activities, A highlight of the program was the presentation of a life member ship pin to Mrs. W. A, Hyatt. A devotional program was pre sented by Mrs. David Hyatt fol lowing the business session. The tables were decorated with bowls of mixed spring flowers and supper was served preceding the meeting. Episcopal Group To Sponsor Food Sale A Food Sale will be held in the REA office on Main Street Satur day morning by the Margaret L. Marshall Chapter of the Woman's Auxiliary of Grace Episcopal Church. The sale will open at 10 a.m. Piano Pupils Of Mrs. Bowers To Give Recital Piano pupils of Mrs. J. B. Bow ers will be presented in a recital at the Central Elementary School, Friday, May 11. at 8 p.m. The pro gram will also include songs by groups from the elementary grades. Playing piano solos will be Joyce Coward, Joyce Leatherwood, Geor gia Anne Henson, Nancy Abel, Mary White, Betty Davis, Evelyn Hightower, Mary Sue Kelly, Phyl lis Anne Davis, Tess Massie, Bet ty Jo Smith, Freddy Calhoun, Dolores Hembree, Betty Calhoun, Latane James. Miss Louise Martin, who recent ly resigned a position with Thal heimer's in Richmond, Vs.. to work with the American- Red Cross is now at the National Naval Hos pital at Bethesda. Md. Miss Martin has been assigned to service in military hospitals and expects to be sent to the Far East in June. She will be here for a short visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martin, the first of June. In a letter to the Mountaineer, Miss Martin stated that she will be on the look-out for boys from Waynesville. Her present address is 4502 Jones Bridge Road, Bethes da, Md. Charles T. MeCracken of Soda Springs, Idaho, sheriff of Carrabus County, Is visiting his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. R. P. MeCracken, at Lake Junaluska. Mary Moody Has Party On 10th Birthday Miss Mary Moody was hostess of a party last Saturday afternoon in celebration of her tenth birth day. She was assisted by her moth' er, Mrs. Bill Moody. VFW Auxiliary Miss Clara Dotson, bride-elect of James E.
