Carey Teague Wells Miss Jean Ann Bradley, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. William Alfred Bradley of Waynesville, became the bride of Lt. Carey Teague Wells, Jr., son of Dr. and Mrsx Carey Teague Wells of Canton, In a double ring ceremony at the First Methodist Church, Saturday evening at eight o'clock. The Rev. J. E. Yountz, pastor of the church, and Dr. C. N. Clark of Lake Junalu.ska officiated. The altar was decorated with floor vases of white gladioli and lilies and branched candelabra, against a background of palms and ferns. v Miss Sarah Davidson of Com merce, Ga., organist, and Miss Bebe' "Wells. of Tavares. Beta Sigma Phi To Organize Canton Chapter A new chapter of the Beta Sig ma Phi sorority will be organized in Canton Friday night, under the sponsorship of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Waynesville. Thirty-one prospective members have been invited to. meet at the Champion YMCA at 8 o'clock in the evening and hear a discussion of the aims and purposes of the sorority. A social hour will follow the business session. All members of the Waynesville chapter are requested to attend. -' Home Demonstration Leaders Training School To Be Held Friday A leaders' training school for Home Beautification and House Furnishings leaders will be held in the Home Demonstration Kit chen in Waynesville on Friday at 2:00 o'clock. Miss Pauline Gordon, State College Specialist, will be present to give the demonstration on Flower Arrangements. All lead ers are urgently requested , to be present. Dr. Wells served 'as best man for his son and ushers were Rich ard Bradley, brother of the bride; Joe Cline, brother-in-law of the bride; Dr. Tom Etheridge of At lanta, classmate of the groom; and Dr. Luther Rollins of Canton. , Immediately after the ceremony the parents of the bride entertain ed with a reception in their home on the Eagle's Nest Road. Gaskili of Knoxville, aunt of the bride. The bride's table was covered with an embroidered linen cloth and held a silver bowl of white roses and gypsophilia, flanked by silver candelabra. The three-tiered j wedding cake was topped with- a- miniature bride and groom. Mrs, Bradley, mother of the bride, wore a gray lace dress with a purple orchid corsage, The moth er of the bridegroom wore aqua lace with a purple orchid corsage. After the reception Lt, and Mrs. Wells left by motor for a wedding trip. Upon their return they will reside in Ithaca, N. Y., where Lt. Wells is stationed with the United States Air Force. ' For traveling the bride worea suit of turquoise silk shantung with white accessories "and the or chid from her Bible. v The bride was graduated from the Waynesville High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in dramatics and education from Brenau College this spring. While a student at the latter she was president of the Phi Mu, social sorority; treasurer , of Zeta Phi Eta, national honorary speech sorority; a member of Phi Beta Sigma, honorary scholastic- soror ity; president of the Student Gov ernment Association; and was list ed in Who's Who. in American Col leges and Universities. This year she received the Mary Mildred Sul livan citizenship award presented by the New York Division of the United Daughters of the Confeder acy and was a member of the Sen ior Honor Society. . , L.f . Wells attended the Canton schools, Davidson College and was graduated from the Emory Uni versity School of Dentistry. He was a ' member of the Pi' Kappa Phi, social fraternity, and "Pst Omega, dental fratrnity, and served as president of his senior class. He practiced his profession in Canton for, three years prior to enlisting i lr the Air Force last February, He is stationed at Sampson Air Base. The marriage of Miss Marie Young Strange, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fletcher Strange, and Aubray Worth Messer. son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Worth Messer, was solemnised in the First Baptist Church Saturday evening at 8 o'clock. The Rev. Broadug E. Wall, pas tor of the church, pronounced the vows. The altar was decorated with basket of white gladioli and lilies with palms and ferns, and branch ed candelabra holding cathedral candies. Joe Morrow, organist, and Miss Merrill Green, soloist, presented a program of music. Miss Green sang "Through, The Years," and "Be cause," prior to the ceremony and "O Perfect Love," as a benedic tion. The- traditional marches were played as 'processional and re cessional. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white nylon marquisette with a sheer yoke- outlined with bertha of marquisette appliqued In white taffeta. The same design of ap plique was used around the hem of the bouftant skirt and extended the length ioffthe chapel train. Her triple tiered fingertip veil of French illusion was attached to a coronet of shirred illusion and sed pearls. The bride carried a white prayer book showered with white roses and topped -with a white or chid. Miss Barbara Hale .of ' Harlan, Ky was maid of honor and-wore a gown of powder blue organdy. She carried a bouquet ,of mixed garden flowers jh pastel shades and wore matching flowers in her hair. Mrs. Jack W. Arrington of Sky land was matron of honor and wore lilac organdy made with basque waist and bouffant skirt. Her flow ers and headdress were identical to those of the maid of honor. Linda Kay Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Prltehard Smith, was flower girl. Her dress was of lilac organdy ancf(slite carried a basket of rose petals. Wayne Edwards served as best man for the bridegroom and ush ers were J. D. Cooper of Canton, James M. Davis. Jr.. Mr. Messer was graduated from the Waynesville High School and attended Warren Wilson Junior College at Swannanoa.
